12.8 Collisions

Is this a new law or a change to a current law: Change to 12.8 Collisions

What law do you wish to change/add: Additionally any driver who is the main cause of a collision will be subject to this offence.

Why should this change/addition be made: A lot of the time I see officers wrongfully using the collisions to ticket a person as it "makes sense" however when the ticket is given a lot of the time the driver never left the scene its just he caused a multi vehicle crash.

What is the aim of this change/addition: To avoid confusion within the PLPD and for the sake of the citizens of paralake.

Please clarify your suggestion: currently drivers involved in a collision have to report it.

If someone is involved in a collision, there doesn't necessarily have to be an offence. It could be a legitimate and innocent lapse of judgement, for example, resulting in a minor scrape.

If any driver 'causes' a collision and this was through violation of another law under section 12, they will have been driving negligently and can be accountable for the collision under this/these section(s) of the penal code anyway.
