Gmod low FPS

Does anyone have a good method or configuration for better FPS because I get really low FPS when the server has more than half the limit.

I use to play in windowed mode as I tab out a lot, turns out this kills your FPS by about 15-30 FPS, try playing in fullscreen if you don't already. Gmod's also a bit more CPU reliant so if you have a bad CPU then it could cause a bit of performance issues

I've got i5-8400. I run borderless. Should I still go Full screen

Might be worth a try to see if it changes you FPS at all. I take it you've tried the r_3dsky etc in console

gmod_mcore_test 1 will activate more cores for gmod
Play in a small resolution
r_shadows 0
r_3dsky 0
You want to go full screen so your pc is focussing mainly on gmod

Nevertheless you will always suffer on perp unless you get a higher tier pc, perp is so custom it's hard to keep up with

I had this issue with FPS a few weeks ago, I started playing in full screen and followed this guide: https://www.mejoress.com/en/gmod-fps-boost-best-settings-guide/ and it worked for me. Let me know if this helps.

Paralake is a horribly optimized map, that's the problem. Not the content packs.
