PARALAKE CITY COUNCIL
LAW REFORM ROUND #1

Hello everyone,

It's that time of year again, when we try to do something with the Paralake City Council. This time we are going to start with small changes, and see how we can build it up to something bigger over time. This will all depend on how much community engagement there is, and how much of an interest there is for other things, such as a new elected council.

Law Reform Round #1
To start with, we have gone through the motions in the Law Reform forum, and selected some based on the following criteria:
  • The changes are not game breaking
  • The can be reasonable arguments for and against the changes
  • They cover different areas of the law
Three motions have been selected from the Law Reform forum for an initial round of voting. These are related to the following laws:
If you have anything that you wish to discuss on these issues, please post them in the respective threads. If you want to see the full motions, you can see them here: paralake.city/motions

These votes will be open for 7 days. All citizens in the city will be able to vote by going to the City Hall and using the desks. The changes will be made shortly afterwards, probably with a couple of days delay so that the PLPD can prepare for the changes.

Next Steps
The initial next step will be to open a second round of law reforms immediately after this round close. These will be selected from the Law Reform forum next Tuesday, on a set of criteria next to be determined. Over time, we will consider how well this is received, and then consider what the additions and changes to this system would work best.

If you're interesting in this concept, you can do any of the following things:
  • Post any suggested changes to the system in this thread
  • Post new law reform suggestions in the Law Reform forums
  • Send me a forum PM if you're interested in helping select the next round of law reforms
  • Discuss the law reforms in their threads, and on the server
  • Campaign for any law reforms that you agree with
  • Go and vote!

Well the results came in a while ago, but there was a distinct lack of engagement, so I won't be doing it weekly. I'll do another round at some point when I have the time.
