What rule do you wish to Edit: 3.5 New Life Rule
Your version of the rule:

When a player has died In Character, and after they have re-spawned, they must wait at least 5 minutes (a countdown is provided) before they may either return to the place where they died and/or interact with the situation. They must also treat their re-spawn as a new life. A system is in place to inform players that they are in breach of this rule, any attempt to bypass this system will not be tolerated. Joining or leaving any government job is to be treated as a new life.
While waiting for their NLR timer to run out, players should not wait in the vicinity of their NLR zone and should stay a reasonable distance away.
When a player is given a new life they must forget/may not act upon any and all details of their previous life; this excludes properties and cars that they own, government positions that they hold and any friends or acquaintances that they have/had made.
Players should not use or act upon any information gained from other players which is relevant to their previous death, while their NLR timer is active.

Any player must treat other players that have died as a new character (excluding mentioned basic information). For example, killing someone because they mugged you in their past life is not allowed. Players should try to determine if the person they are about to interact with has already died in their past life (using out of character information) if a significant amount of time has passed between your last interaction with said player.

Alternatively:
Players should not negatively impact the experience of another player based on something that a said player has done in their previous life. Furthermore, players should try to determine to the best of their abilities, using information outside of their character if the player they are about to interact with has died after your last interaction with them (especially if a significant amount of time has passed)

Why do you believe this rule should be edited:
Right now I don't think there is anything explicitly saying that you shouldn't affect other players based on something they did in their past life (especially if you didn't see them die) as you are not allowed to use OOC information IC.
Even tho this is common sense it could be more clear that it is not allowed and that you should try to find out if a player has died instead of relying on ignorance. Also, @Alex_:D will no longer be able to complain that his ban is not valid.

This is already a thing?

Players should try to determine if the person they are about to interact with has already died in their past life (using out of character information), especially if a significant amount of time has passed between your last interaction with said player.
How would this work? Stopping any roleplay situations to have a LOOC conversation about whether the person has died since the last interactive would have a massive effect on RP imo

I don't think it needs to be rewritten and if it does then definitely not how you have written it. How you've written it, I saw it as if you were suggesting that I should have to actively stop and have a chat with anyone I'm planning on killing for past situation about whether they have died or not, which of course would have a large effect on RP

The new life rule applies both ways. You are a new person when you die or switch job, so is everyone else.

If that person has died since they did whatever to you then you are no longer able to take revenge on them because they are a new person.

Like you said, Alex was ignorant and tried to loophole the rules by claiming looc was meta gaming. He’s only banned for a day, take the L, learn from it and get on with the game
