Need some help with Glowing Text

Hello people!
I would like to know how i can make chat tags glow. Similar to PERPHeads.
Here is the code i'm currently using:

So basically i would like to add a glow/fade effect in chat tags from red to black for example.

You'll probably want to interpolate in between the colors back and forth.
