I'm a legal gun Owner myself I can tell you this they do sound similar. and they are real life gun sounds being used in the game. They just may have a little extra reverb on them for the Sound.

Too bad I like the sounds not for your ears, you ever shoot a real gun? or seen one be shot they sound pretty loud... to the point where your eardrums burst sometimes. ever wonder why people wear protection while shooting guns? oh I know why because its mad loud.
