Suggestion Title: Indicate Intoxication
Suggestion Description: Automatic Proximity /Describe and or /me for Being close to someone who is intoxicated by being high or drunk.

Why should this be added?:
- This automates the process. Allowing all players to have more fluid rp
- gives police and other players the way to role play more fluidly around the event someone is not sober
- incentivizes players and new players to utilize the /me /describe feature more in role play or play around it.
- takes away having to rely on someone being honest or even putting in the effort to /me it.

What negatives could this have?:
- people cant lie about being sober while drunk. This is also possibly bad for people who want to trick police or /roll to try and weasel their way out of a traffic stop through roleplay as I can easily imagine some cops would just deny their roleplay then arrest them immediately.

What problem would this suggestion solve?: No easy way to showcase lack of sobriety in roleplay. It’s either a hassle, a gateway to someone breaking character to explain how to use /me, other problems and etc..

This could just be a feature through the Fists+E dialog?

* John has an old laceration wound
* John smells like alcohol/cannabis/meth

That’s a good point which I did consider to be fair. The problem is if a driver is intoxicated, I imagine it will be really hard for the officer; especially a new player cop; to remember or know to check every single time you pull someone over, Plus the obvious hassle it would be.

honestly ive not seen that many people be intoxicated but an proximity thing like getting close to someone it automatically says they smell like whatever would be extremely cool to have

Appreciate the support.

And maybe you just haven’t chased me yet. I sometimes race around the map high on mushrooms when I feel like doing the dark web Psychedelic foraging :laughcry:

I disagree heavily with this, there is literally a mechanic build into the game that shows intoxication (for drunk), maybe suggest pupils or a face red glow but not a powergaming /me or /desc, that is not what adds value to RP at all and only encourages powergaming/metagaming hence things like "/me fiddles with the underneath of a car" and "/me fiddles with the cuffs" were also removed.

However u can actually RP (OMG actual RP?!?1?) in this situation, such as have someone walk in a straight line (for drunks), maybe it is a possibility if drugs are suspected to have some kind of toolkit to test for it (but until that is added @northnortheast idea is by far a lot better than an autmatic broadcast) and laziness as you are describing as "remember to check for drunkness" is absolutely no excuse to just put something like that in place. It should not be checked every time, it is where is suspected it is needed, powertripping and checking every single person as a cop is for sure putting a target on your back but thats beyond the scope of this suggestion.

TL:DR, bad suggestion rather have a /me like wounds or a toolkit to test for drugs as drunkness already can be tested through RP (involuntary movements)

You argued that visual cues are good but that /desc cues indicating an odor is too much? Thats basically the same thing.

No I am suggesting an automatic response is too much.

Why not add an automatic /me or /desc in chat when someone is carrying a pistol (should be visible right)? or how about when someone is carrying drugs on them as a person, that should smell too thus it should automatically announce to the whole server u are carrying drugs on you? Thats basically the same thing.

Where visual clues can be rather more hidden than a big ass red text in chat will never be ignored. (speaking from experience when someone was being uncuffed by crowbars/bobbypins and such a text popped up)

Yeah I totally understand why a desc for cuffs is not good, I think your other examples are a bit extreme compared to a simple intoxication though.

While carrying a gun can be realistically concealed for example, hiding a blatant odor after slamming a gram of weed down a pipe is unavoidable and you can’t exactly “visualize,” a stinky odor of marijuana.

considering the effort compared to the outcome, it doesn’t really feel like it fits Perpheads’ environment. could end up being a bit of a waste of the developer’s time.

can’t remember any automated /me or /desc stuff in the game, so why this intoxication thing specifically?

just curious to understand the reasoning, not trying to be difficult.

As I’m sure you’re aware currently we have /me descriptions in two ways:

1)through clicking r with your fist on guns to check heat level
2) checking the type of wounds on a person.

So I think that it’s not fair to speak on a devs behalf and argue that this style of mechanic is a “waste of dev time,” or “doesn’t feel like perpheads.”

As for why intoxication? there’s several reasons, one being that police ;and generally players; are not able to roleplay someone being intoxicated because there’s not even the bare minimum to indicate any sign of that event happening. If someone is intoxicated, they can easily lie in /me because there’s no tell or sign and it’s only visual for them. So naturally this fixes that and makes it possible to start by simply alerting an odor.

My only question would be is it worth the effort considering how infrequently people get intoxicated and then drive a car. As far as I'm aware it's not very often people go out of their way to drink or do drugs on perp but I could be wrong. Seems like a waste of effort imo though.
