Punishment Type: Ban
Punishment Subtype: Server Ban
Appeal Type: Dispute[Evidence]
Which staff member issued the punishment?: @Daan
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: 3 Days

Your Steam Name: piesangsaregood
Your Roleplay Name: Steven Dingleberry
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:0:687447323

Why were you punished?: 3.21 - The player told a police officer in LOOC that a body in his home was old, while it was directly involved in a crime that was committed not even 4 minutes earlier.

Why should this appeal be considered?: I was ill informed. An admin had told my friend Contrast(steam) or Reginald Dingleberry(ic) on Oct 1st that lying in looc is not a rule break after he reported someone for telling him he may not lock the door of his car when someone attempts to steal it. The admin claimed that this is not a rule break and the locking the door would actually make no difference. this is what he made the f6 about :

user told him he was breaking the rule in and out of character which changed the outcome of the situation. He was told this does not break any rules. Therefore, I believed the same as he informed me about it after I next saw him.

Additional Information: Admin issued me a ban(rather then a warning) particularly because of my record though i have never been warned or banned for this offense and wasn't aware of its existence :

Denied, you used LOOC to change the outcome of a situation that had literally just happened and was still fairly active considering you had killed the raider not even 4 minutes prior and used LOOC to influence the cops into leaving, if 3.21 had no examples I believe this would be a pretty good one.

I won't comment too much on the situation your friend dealt with, since these are quite different, and I should mention that a helper handled your friend's ticket; which unfortunately are not the most reliable when it comes to situations that realistically should be reports for an actual enforcer+ to comment on rule-wise, what I will say though is that locking the car or jumping right into it while there's armed people trying to steal it is a bit unrealistic, but there's not a game mechanic preventing it and the outcome of the situation really would not have changed.

That means that you were not ill-informed, you were just getting information from someone who was not fully suited to answer that question or decide on whether or not it was a rulebreak, and again, these are different situations.

You telling cops that the person's body that you had just killed not even 4 minutes prior was old and calling them jackasses in LOOC did change the outcome of the situation and influenced their actions to leave, when they should have stayed to investigate considering there were shots, possibly a life alert that's location is pinged within the lines of your / your group's property with a body that completely went missing within minutes.

If you had said this while in character, they probably would not have believed you and would have pursued a warrant or tried to investigate as they should have.

3.21; 'Out-of-Character (OOC) information must not influence In-Character actions, and OOC conversations should be kept away from active roleplay.'

If you believe that the punishment from Daan is too harsh, you will have to follow up with a staff complaint against him here.
