What mouse pads do you recommend?

Many people find their choices to be unique.

Some say use Superglide skates.

Others are okay with fabric pads, maybe Artisan Japanese ones or Qck for quality.

Some say solid pads are great.

Some dive into glass mouse pads.

I’m personally very unaware of what all is there to know about the pros and cons, neither am I aware of what I personally would actually prefer in terms of speed vs balance vs control.

Here are a few of the options which were recommended to me:

1) affordable Glass mouse pad

2) Logitech solid mouse pad

3) Control mouse pad

I’d love to learn more and see people discuss what they think.

Honestly, any mousepad that is just cloth without any plastic type coating. You can clean these and they will last you YEARS when taken care of correctly. I myself swear by Aqua Control by X-raypad or Artisans, but Artisans are quite expensive compared to X-raypads due to them usually being imported where I live. I have had an Aqua Control+ for around 4 years now and it has just now started to really degrade in surface quality. I have cleaned it at least 10 times though.

Pro tip: Do NOT get a white mousepad. Biggest mistake of my life, it is good if you want to see how dirty your pad is but I doubt anyone really wants to see that.

After looking into this more, I’ve dialed my options to either going for either:

WallHack VA-005 = Glass pad

Artisan Zero XL = Cloth pad

Please go Artisan, glass pads are stupid in my opinion. Annoying to bring with you in case you need to, they can break, they get dirty with your dirty fat fingers, they are expensive.

while I understand glass is not perfect, this reply feels less informative and more biased if anything.

Cleanliness? water and microfiber wipe, done

Fragile? sure if you throw it, but most people are reasonable enough to handle any equipment with care.

Price? If I buy a mouse pad and use it for years, I’m not bothered. I paid $130 for the Superlight 2 I have and I’m happy with it.

A few important things I learned through my research is glass pads are scientifically designed to be clean, long term and low maintenance. No sweat sticking/absorbing, no wrestling the pad, no concern with temperatures affecting the way the pad feels, no hotspots of clean vs dirty. Just a consistent and raw experience, which for me, is intriguing as I am climbing ladder in Ranked playing THE FINALS. Speed and tracking competency is important, which is something I know Artisan Raiden may be really good for, but that does not mean Glass is suddenly out of the equation.

I don’t feel comfortable just answering a Prejudiced plea without any actual correct reason against, but I am open to discussing and I appreciate your opinion.

seems like you made your choice already, why even bother mentioning the artisan

Artisan was the contender for cloth as it is clearly the best out of that category.

I genuinely was considering them, but I am also not ignorantly following one person's word.

I watched several reviews / videos, talked to streamers on twitch (including pro players), discussed the topic in discord servers + this forum, and read up on what the manufacturers themselves say.

So no, my mind was not already made at the time, I was deducing what would work for me before I decide to put down about $100 on a peripheral I plan to use for years to come.
