New Server Host

Hello!

We have migrated to a new server host to hopefully mitigate some of the networking issues we've been having. The IP address has changed, the new IP is 185.172.175.10 or you can use gmod.perpheads.com to connect.
Please update your favorites to include the new IP address. Joining the old IP will redirect you to the new server.

With the new host also comes a new CPU that should improve server performance at high player counts.
Please let us know if you have any issues.

If i’m being honest i defiantly did not have much hope with the “upgrade” but after playing this evening can defo notice a HUGE difference

Also my fps seems to be better for whatever reason, and i’m not the only one who has said this which is a bonus

Yeah definitely feels a lot more stable since the switch, might be too early to tell for definite though.

The problem was that the old host had massive packet loss starting since like a month ago, so even if the server was running stable, it felt really choppy.
Now the server has 0 packet loss and we have a ~25-30% faster CPU, so it feels smoother in both regards.

From what I gather of recent update logs, it seems like they are still making some - albeit small attempts - stability improvements to the client of the game but no real work on SRCDS. Will a stronger server machine actually make any difference? I feel like a lot of the issues are just down to outdated software?

From playing the server, the performance has definetily improved with the new host they currently have
