All the old models are just as good as the new ones, so go for 2000+ year model, you probably want 250 or higher, I started on a 650 but it's obviously not the best to start with, and make sure it's a 4 stroke and not a 2 stroke, 2 stroke are much higher maintenance cost and 4 strokes are easy to take care of. If you really want to talk about this more hit me up on steam or whatever.

I was looking for a 250cc or higher preferably a 300cc. I want a utility one because they look nicer IMO and would be more enjoyable yo drive

The sport ones are actually a lot better and more enjoyable to ride, utility ones are quite large and sometimes unmaneuverable, though some sport quads don't have reverse you can find your way around better, and when you don't have reverse you never actually feel like you need it, so you can get around it.

Also sport quads are much easier to maintain, just take off the seat, unscrew some screws, air filter out, washed, boom ready. Get pliers or use your fingers, twist the oil check rod bam check for oil and pour some in if needed to. Twist another cap with your fingers bam radiator water cap open boom check done. Check fuel and you are ready to go.

Utility quads are much chunkier and harder to get around, where sport quads are much easier to prepare and maintain. Also not sure about you, but sport quads here are much cheaper than utility ones. Depends on what quad obviously.

My quad bike is not road legal here but it is in England, problem is it is 2000 pounds, which is understandable because it is in fact the best quad bike ever made or something like that, and mine can beat brand new ones. So year doesn't really matter, just above 2000 model and you are good.

I'll tell you what though, there is one quad bike that really sticks out, that is the Honda Trx but people call it farm quad in england for some reason, it is a utility quad, but whats unique about it, you do 1 treatment which is oil fuel and radiator water and you can basically drive it forever if you just fuel it.
