Punishment Type: Ban
Appeal Type: Dispute[Evidence]
Which staff member issued the punishment?: STEAM_0:1:44251175 Admin ellie
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: 1 Day

Your Steam Name: Userone
Your Roleplay Name: Millisa Henhey
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:0:0

Why were you banned/blacklisted?: I picked up a gun despite presence of an armed officer on scene.

Why should this appeal be considered?: Millisa tried to take the gun while the cop was distracted. I'm unsure if it was the cop that shot her, or if it was someone else. I also didn't expect it to take 5 solid seconds just to swipe an item off of the ground that the cop wasn't watching.

I'm upset that there was no investigation by the staff. Yes, Millisa broke an IN-CHARACTER law, why does that warrant an OUT-OF-CHARACTER punishment? The officer wasn't paying attention, the admin ellie made ZERO effort to investigate the situation further and simply issued a ban without a warning.

Additional Information: The ban is unjustified in my opinion. This was a purely IN-CHARACTER issue, the officer shouldn't have left that gun out of sight or gotten people to disperse.

PS. I do not remember hearing any STAFF tell me to not pick up the gun OOC prior. I had no Out-Of-Character warnings to my best knowledge.

Your in-character act broke both in-character law and out-of-character rules, there is of course going to be an overlap in some areas and if rules couldn't cover in-character situations/interactions then there would be very little point in rules in the first place as a far majority of gameplay is entirely in-character.

Picking up a gun in a situation like this is a breach of rule 3.4 because you're risking exactly what happened; an extremely significant (if not guaranteed) probability that you're going to be immediately killed for the insignificant reward of a few thousand dollars for a gun, the value of a gun does not justify risking your death.

It does not matter that you believed that the officer wasn't paying attention, an act like this would have been considered 3.4 regardless.
