has anyone else noticed that bazaar just isn’t as popular in v6 as it was in v5?

since v6 dropped, it feels like no one really hangs out in bazaar anymore, even when the server is full or decently populated (like 60/128 players). i usually stop by daily, and most of the time i only see 2–4 shops open. compare that to v5, where people were literally fighting to claim a shop spot.

i think splitting bazaar into two floors might be part of the problem. it just doesn’t have the same energy anymore.

some of my favorite v5 memories were just messing around with 10+ people in bazaar. now in v6, it’s way harder to find that kind of group energy or spontaneous fun.

anyways thanks for listening to my ted talk!!
ps. let’s bring back bazaar chaos

V5's bazaar had max of 9 shops, It was really hard to get a shop because it was filled with AFK bazaar dwellers sleeping in their bed hoping their $50,000 AS50 gets sold or their gang members hold it down.

V6's bazaar however has more then 9 shops, In V6 it's rare to see the shops full, There's at least 1 to 4 shops open which was rare in V5. With more space in the shops we are able to see cool designs people are making.

Also with the bazaar "chaos" with that chaos it will always get someone banned for 3.4 so uh no

Thanks for your opinion

Bazaar was good and is remembered fondly because it served as a hub for everyone. With so many people in such a small space, people could socialise / hang out / start petty beef / massrdm easily, and it always felt lively and bustling.

The relative size of new bazaar doesn't do this. It's a well made, lovely shopping center but it's missing the player density that made old bazaar so fun (and funny)

honestly i think with time that the new bazaar will become crazy as well, it's way more spacious and stuff, and that's what i like about it, you go in, buy what you want, no bumping in a tiny space, no new players being able to kill everyone (they dont have one angle where they can kill everyone), more time that passes i believe shopkeepers will get some ideas to 'liven' it up, i say just give it time even though it's very good right now

Essentially what exrobite said sums up my thoughts on v6 bazaar and I feel in a way its more turned from bazaar being the social area to the main city/spawn. The city feels quite filled with people now which I much prefer to v5, however I feel the business and especially the forest district feel a lot more spread out making player interactions less common.

Well that's good imo i feel like some things should require less people yes the map feels more empty however the interactive shops, in spawn, and slums area and all the models and sewers makes it 10× more realistic. Yes the map is basically more empty for good reason however that's kinda the point of yk being in the city ur bound to find more. Also the bazaar is for guns mostly and most people start crafting their owns guns now so there will obviously be a lower demand and more experienced players will be less present cause they have no reason. Only time I go bazaar is for a quick gun, socialise or just craft.

This is very much part of it. Bazaar feeling less busy is not entirely because it feels less populated because of its size. Less people are choosing to run shops right now, and at least some of that is 100% down to the map being new, and people wanting to play on it, not sit in a shop 24/7. I do expect the population of bazaar to increase as the novelty of V6 wares off.

The social hub is wherever people want it to be. Bazaar is not "too big", and could 100% feel alive if the same number of players that use V5 were using it in V6, but many are choosing to hang out and socialise in the City. Which in a way is very much a good thing. That should be the center of activity.

The changes made in 6.1 will be to concentrate the smaller number of bazaar dwellers we currently have together whilst still supporting the large number of shops that V5's level needed if/when we return to that.

---------------

The plan:
I don't want to make promises, as my plans could very much change, but currently I aim to try moving the business shops to the upper level, and compressing all regular bazaar shops down to the lower level. The split level must remain due to Bazaar's underground parking (which will stay as it is a huge optimization feature). Upstairs there will be probably 2 (no more than 4) large shops, probably with doors and a back room, for orgs that want hangout spaces whilst not being far from the central shopping area -and the bazaar shops themselves will remain the same. Growing and mugging will still not be allowed in any of them.

Like I said, I don't think this will fix things straight away, but it should further help once people decide they want to start setting up shops and staying in them for long periods of time again.

6.1 is more than just Bazaar, so don't expect this next week, but you should see it roll out in the next couple of months.
