since we already have the wonderful favourite songs thread, I wanted to make one for albums!!!

post your favourite albums and write why you like em :D :cat:

naturally I will go first;

1693157408977.png

queens of the stone age - songs for the deaf
really good rock album, nearly all bangers and the intro to songs for the dead got me like :dead:

1693157544201.png

ok computer - radiohead
probably on many peoples top albums list. could also put in rainbows and even the bends on this list but went with this.

1693157669433.png

the dark side of the moon - pink floyd
I only listened to this very recently as I always thought it would be mid but I was very wrong... an experience to say the least (@2766)

1693157742247.png

whatever people say I am, that's what I am not - artic monkeys
easily the best artic monkeys album. all bangers with that authentic alex turner drinking pints in scaldy pubs in britian feel to it. a certain romance is goated

1693158010181.png

dirt - alice in chains
some absolutely nasty tunes on this banger, love the heavy tones and grunge feel!

since I have already done 5 I will leave it at that but some honourable mentions for me include;

ride the lightning - metallica
sgt. peppers lonely hearts club band - the beatles
around the fur - deftones
mellon collie and the infinite sadness - the smashing pumpkins
jar of flies - alice in chains
...like clockwork - queens of the stone age
currents - tame impala

big shout out to @Nate for showing me most of these ( have to say it before he does :penguin: )

These are in no particular order
Cant believe you stole my "I showed you good music" line Max :penguin:

1. Nevermind
1693158861131.png

How original I know, but its not often you get albums with literally no skips and for that I will always praise Nevermind

2. Dirt
1693158848270.png

Literally like the magnum opus of the 90's, The grunge scene really was explored to its extent in this album, alongside Soundgarden
Layne Staley, Gerry Cantrell, Mike Starr and Sean Kinney are actual geniuses
I have a video of my band playing Man In The Box by Alice In Chains I might put it up soon.

3. Toxicity
1693158987234.png

Just a well crafted album, no skips and the instensity is mad.

4. Dookie
1693159045697.png

If the album cover isn't enough to sway you the 15 bangers in the track are sure to.

5. Madvillainy
1693159108717.png

Just perfection, surprised to see no DOOM on Max's list :penguin:

6. Earfquake
1693159174565.png

Solid album, really a diamond in the rough among compared to some other artists of the same genre.
Honourable mentions:
The Mollusk - Ween
The Pick Of Destiny - Tenacious D
Most Kanye albums of course.
XX - Rage Against The Machine
White Pony & Around the Fur - Deftones
To Pimp a Butterfly - Kendrick Lamar
And of course Songs For The Deaf - Queens Of The Stone Age

There are so many more but I cant compile all of them.
This definitely makes me sound like such a clem but fuck it.

Ride the Lightning is a W album as a whole, So W even that I wore it on my back for the best years of my life.

My top 10 in no particular order:

7C3751B7-E5ED-42C6-BEDA-36838ED2A240.jpeg
The Dark Saga is metal genius, just don’t look up where their guitarist was on January 6th 2021…

C50984B0-4DA1-45CB-8217-046D1710EC44.jpeg
Banger album, shame about the bass.

96F704D3-A607-473C-B99C-8F5973B2735E.jpeg

First album I bought, Untoppable by anything else Megadeth released.

AB8D52DC-0542-43D7-AF4B-AE8D62A8C277.jpeg
This whole album is a true W, a real masterpiece and probably my genuine favourite of all time.

65EA5D36-980D-4C91-880C-0DBB9B940030.jpeg
An absolute gem of a prog metal album, Every song here was an unskippable banger on my MP3 player.

07939F3E-CD3A-4427-B0FF-FBB636F1487B.jpeg
This era saw the best band Ozzy had. Iconic complex guitar work and generally just really good songs.

C15FF94A-6C11-4479-896E-085C4E3A8EF5.jpeg
German speed metal banger W album.

AB5121B9-7D75-408A-A911-C331BAD362F2.jpeg
Another thrash album that I used to listen to on repeat, it’s just so fucking good.

E7A219CB-B7EC-4A3A-B765-B84A3DC75175.jpeg

i let it in and it took everything by loathe - incredible alternative metal album with elements of djent, metalcore, shoegaze, post-metal - does things creatively that no other album i've heard ever has and does every single thing so incredibly well, insane production and more of an experience than an album

the blends of raw, unbridled aggression & intensity balanced out with epic shoegaze-infused ballads showing beauty through music incomparable to anything ive ever heard before just make this album a truly perfect experience for me

favourite album of all time 10/10
