The fail base used a one way peek which mostly gave the raiders (you) an advantage against the defenders. As a raider, you can see almost all of the defenses and defenders inside but from the defenders POV, they can only see your head which gives you an advantage against them.

There was also 2 defenders inside the base and 2 flankers outside which you were completely unaware of. If it was not a fail base and you never took damage, then you would have kept on crowbarring the door and still died to the flankers.
