Why were you punished?: 3.4 - The player broke gunpoint by pulling a gun while 2 armed assailants were pointing their weapons at him during a raid. Being disrespectful in the admin sit and accuses me for finding loopholes so I can ban/warn people. Asked for a perm ban, contact me when you calmed down so we can have a chat.
Why should this appeal be considered?: This appeal is to dispute the validity of the permanent ban I received for allegedly breaking rule 3.4 and being disrespectful during an admin sit.
In the reported situation, I was inside my own apartment, unaware that a raid was underway. The raiders (who were admins) intentionally made external noise (knocking) to mask the sounds of lockpicking, which allowed them to lockpick our house without us being alerted to an intrusion. Because of this, I had no indication that a break-in was happening or that I was in any danger. I was acting completely in-character within a property I believed was secure.
When I turned around and saw two unknown individuals inside my apartment, my reflexive reaction was to pull out my weapon, not out of defiance, but out of confusion and instinct. There was no clear verbal demand until i pulled my gun and i never noticed the guns pointed at me since my focus that was not trying to find that our but more like finding out what is going on. At the time of drawing my weapon, I did not knowingly disobey a gunpoint order. I had no reason to believe I was already being held at gunpoint until after the fact when i was told what happened. Since I didn’t think there was a raid, when I saw two people in my property, I pulled my gun without checking if they had one or not I was just confused about the situation.
Per rule 3.4:
"Any actions that risk a player’s life... must be done for beneficial and realistic reasons. Players must take measures to avoid their death at all times."
And per General Conduct Rule 2.1:
"This game mode aims to emulate real life, and as such, players are expected to play realistically at all times..."
My reaction was realistic and in-character. Someone breaking into your home unexpectedly, without hearing a crowbar, alarm, or clear commands, would logically trigger a self-defense reflex. I was not breaking gunpoint intentionally or recklessly. I wasn’t aware I was even under gunpoint, as the approach was stealthy and misleading.
During the admin sit, I tried to explain all of this calmly and truthfully. However, every time I attempted to speak or clarify my side it was ignored as it doesn't matter when it should matter and i was also frozen mid-sentences many times because i apparently interrupted him when he was talking which is completely normal if you think someone is explaining something you already know over and over. I repeatedly stated that I did not understand the situation at that time and asked for leniency, especially considering how the raid was executed. I asked if this could be handled as a misunderstanding, but the administrator instead escalated the punishment, stating “too late for that” when I asked not to be warned.
He then told me that I had a recent warning for 3.4 and that I would be banned for two days. When I tried to continue defending my case, he increased the ban to five days, saying it was because I “kept arguing.” In frustration and sarcasm, I said “might as well make it a perma huh” not as a real request, but out of disbelief that the punishment kept escalating for defending myself. He then permanently banned me and said I asked for it.
I now realize I should have stayed more composed at the end. But at no point before that was I being disrespectful. I was trying to explain myself and felt increasingly silenced and dismissed. It felt less like a fair admin sit and more like a power move, where I wasn’t being given the chance to properly respond or be heard.
Rule 1.6 - Co-operation with Staff states:
Players must follow administrators’ instructions and respond truthfully to inquiries.
I did tell the truth. I did cooperate. The issue seems to be that I defended my case, which isn’t against any rule.
Even with all of that said, a permanent ban should never have been issued. I was told I’d be banned for two days because of a past warning, then five days for simply defending myself, and finally perma-banned for making a sarcastic comment after being shut down. This entire escalation happened within minutes and was uncalled for. I’m asking for this to be reconsidered fairly, and that the punishment be reversed or reduced to something proportionate.
Additional Information: I understand emotions ran high during the admin sit, but I was never disrespectful until the very end, after repeated attempts to explain myself were ignored and I was continuously silenced. The situation could have been resolved with a warning or short ban if proper dialogue had been allowed. I’m simply asking for fair treatment and for the permanent ban to be lifted or reduced appropriately
Also just to mention i did try to contant Daan but i cannot find him in the forums he must have a different name or something.
