I've noticed recently that when the server is under load, voices tend to cut out a lot more. When it's bad, it makes radio comms neigh impossible

So, we as the player never seen any animals. But is it an in universe thing that Paralake has no wildlife, or is it purely a limitation of the game engine, and it's assumed there are animals in the world and we just never see them.

I was going to say it would make more sense to check the door. The crowbar is made of solid metal, meanwhile doors are usually wooden and suffer much more damage. This is also true for cars! If a car is forcibly pried into, it's frame would be damaged
