PC Crashing after playing for 2+ Minutes

So the problem started today 03/05/2024, during the night I was AFK at the Bazaar and when I woke up I had a windows message on my screen (blue banner across the screen) stating I was running out of disk space and garrysmod was just a black screen but could still hear sound and press keys(could hear myself running). When I reloaded the game I get into the city fine, spawn in, can move around and then anywhere between 10 seconds - 2 minutes after spawning, the game freezes along with my pc and my screens go black for maybe a second before returning to how it was all programs still running, including GMOD but when I click on the GMOD tab it just shows a blackscreen on my monitor like before but I can still drive beep my horn etc.

STEPS I HAVE ALREADY TAKEN:

At first I thought it was just because I was out of disk space, since then I have cleared way more than enough across all my drives. Still didn't work.
I then tried reinstalling on a different drive thinking it was drive corruption. Didn't work.
I then got worried that it was a serious hardware issue such as GPU RAM or CPU, I played 30 minutes of Kerbal Space Program with a lot of graphics mods and is known to be intensive, it was fine.
I ofc verified game files. Didn't work.
I updated and reinstalled my graphics drivers. Did not work.
Defrag and disk cleanup. Didn't work.
Installed perp content on the workshop, did not work.
Tried a different server to test if it is Hardware and I played fine on that.

At this point a friend got in contact with Kevko for me and told him of my sudden issues, we tried a lot of things including a DirectX diagnostic tool which was fine.
We tested a singleplayer of the perpheads map. The same problem happened.
At this point he told me to lower all my settings and see if that worked. It did to the extent that the window for crashes is now between 2-10 minutes.
After that he couldn't think of anything else and has stated he believes it maybe a hardware issue. (Big up Kevko for taking time out to help me)
I kind of agree it feels like a hardware issue HOWEVER, the PC is playing very intensive games fine and runs like it always has.
After this convo with Kevko i played MSFS2020 for a good 15 minutes flying full pelt through New York in a fighter jet, trying to make my game or PC crash. It did not crash so from my knowledge it cannot be a hardware issue as MSFS2020 is stupidly intensive on the resources (full settings btw ULTRA or HIGH)

If anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated, the only thing I can think of is a particular Perp file doesn't enjoy being read by my PC after last night for whatever reason.

Please help Shaun Wonder in his time of need.

If you're on 64 bit try 32 bit. And if you're for some reason on 32 bit (default) then try 64 bit when you right click on Gmod in Steam then go to properties>betas

Also try host_thread_mode 0 after you tried the above in the console. I'm not sure if this still exists but with that you should be able to play paralake on singleplayer if its what I'm thinking it is.

@Jimmy There is no error message as the tab is still open, i can still hear sound, but the screen is black or doesn't appear, resulting in me having to shut it down.

Are you having something open on steam overlay (used to cause issues for me)?

Did you delete all addons that you are not currently using (or just all) (and unsubscribe from workshop).

@blobvis 2.0 Can confirm nothing is open on steam overlay not even friends, and I only have 4 items in the steam workshop all 4 are perpheads content 1-3 and Paralake V5. It is frustrating me so bad i've been trying to fix for 6 hours now.

If I may suggest, Just uninstall gmod COMPLETELY including deleting the whole garry's mod folder if you are certain it is gmod that is bugging out. might work, might not but atleast worth a shot given u been trying to fix it for 6 hours now

@blobvis 2.0 @Jimmy I'm currently just about to uninstall steam and delete every folder, just collecting screenshots before i do so, so that will cover the reinstall and yes, that pretty much is my problem what you have sent, everything matches with what they have stated so I will also give that a try, thankyou guys this is really frustrating me:confused:

@blobvis 2.0 @Jimmy Neither solution worked but thankyou, it's really frustrating me, other games run fine but for some reason as of this morning it just crashes my PC for a second. This during the moment that gmod crashes Imagine it won't be any help but you never know.

@Kevko After ive done a lot more testing like flight simulator 2020 i'm convinced it isn't a cooked GPU or RAM, at a loss as what to do it doesn't make sense:confused:

What are the state of your drives, you said your primary drive had a nearly full message, maybe try clearing out 1-2GB of space and reinstall the workshop content, long shot but it could work.

This was the first thing I did, all drives now have a lot of space on them, my primary drive has 140gb spare now, something tells me it is something to do with the message this morning otherwise it is a big coincidence

Thankyou mate i will give them a go, I have already loaded up the paralake map on singleplayer using the workshop content though and the crash still happened, just on another server rn to test and ive been sat on it for atleast 10 minutes with no crash, but i will try the 64bit bit.

I believe the 64x has fixed this issue thankyou, No idea why it's suddenly started needing it but thank you so much i've been in the server for 20+ mins now so from what I can tell it is sorted.
