Suggestion Title: Healthy Diet
Suggestion Description: Eating fish is made to have a slight buff to loading bars, like reloading magazines; equipping a crowbar; holstering; etc..

Why should this be added?:
- P2P business for fishing
- More market variety, Currently bazaar is literally just a farmer's market for criminal equipment
- People can actually have a reason to run businesses like Roxies diner, or restaurants in general.
- Fishing can have a commission side of profitability that rewards players who interact instead of just selling to Poissons.
- Good for A1L
What negatives could this have?:
- Unbalanced in PVP?
- Players can stock up too easily
- Won't fully remove the lack of variety of bazaar items

What problem would this suggestion solve?: Selling fish to players is nowadays a gimmick aspect of a roleplay someone may do once in a while, when it can really become real part of the game that holds a beneficial mechanic.

I would much rather see a great variety of different foods that do different things instead of a singular food having good buffs. Thought of making a food update suggestion where you can actually cook different recipes that will have different buffs but I am afraid the benefits wouldn't be enough for players to actually put the effort in. The only people using this would be the more passive players.

I do like this suggestion but I do feel like it would be A LOT better if all foods had different buffs/debuffs.

I agree and share that aspiration but development of such an ambitious vision seems to be highly unlikely, especially considering the history of it.

Currently, there is a open suggestion for such an idea, which has only had one developer respond to it and with a disapproving stance held against it. Furthermore, the thread is neatly sat on the second to last page of the suggestions list with, still, no heartbeat of care by development for such a prospect. The last reply was on August 18th, by a user loving the idea but today it seems as though that that thread lacks any hope of seeing the light of day.

TL DR, I want to simplify the whole situation and just give something for the people who fish to be happy without opening a can of worms so everyone is happy.

Just implement the mechanic from the Minecraft mod Spice of Life Onion.
(But this would be only possible if more craftable food items became a thing. Buying them would be too easy)

I don’t understand what part of this has caused so much downvote.

Yes we all want more food diversity.

Unfortunately, the track record over years of people wanting that has shown no success.

I understand this idea may sound stupid, but I think it is good because it is a far smaller, more simplified, version of that concept to at least get a foot in the door, so that later step by step we may see our shared hope get made rather than throwing a big chunk of work on developers who already may be overwhelmed.

il sum it up for you

More food = Yes. good idea.

Food that gives more effects and makes PvP orgs and cops more powerful in fights = no.

The idea of a diet in a game = No. You eat when hungry cause its simple

I honestly think no one would care to actually cook or make the diverse food if there is no actual dietary benefit for your character doing so.

food from gas stations is super convenient and costly marginal.

i totally understand why developers don’t want to do it if people are not accepting of there being a mechanical benefit to having a diverse diet or eating certain foods over others.

people like new things, and would probably do it for a little while if it was new.

No one wants to cook food that than gives you a reload boost or makes it quicker to equip things cause than that just makes it unfair for the players who literally do not give a shit what food they eat since you literally only eat to not starve lmao.

No one really wants a diet in a game and just care about milk and chocolate so you can see, The idea of new food is good but i dont really think there is any need for a benefit on a game based on ur gmod characters diet

i disagree with this because if perpheads had the ability to for cooking/crafting food, there would be so much more roleplay opportunities. for example, i would turn a bazaar shop into a restaurant.

there are skills and genetics that change the way players PvP. It’s not unfair, anyone can do it but if someone chooses not to and complains about it that is on them.

Simply saying people may use it for a bit does not suffice. That does not justify the immense work that will probably go into making the big diverse food ideas people ask.

If we can’t agree that there needs to be at least some advantage or incentive, not necessarily in the form of reload times or equip speeds, but in a way that matters then there will most likely not be diverse food ideas being implemented.

but food is beneficial enough cause you’ll die without it lol? there is no realism in being able to “reload quicker” cause you decided to have a cheeky Cod for dinner lmao.

I get your point but in no way is a “pescatarian diet” going to be worth the dev’s time to input.

Yes i get the point that diversity is good, more foods than might fill up you hunger more or pretty basic things than yes but this is supposed to fit into realistic RP and i don’t think it’s exactly realistic to eat a fish finger and gain superstrength cause it’s perpheads and not popeye the sailor with his spinach.

I think adding food that might make you more full for longer, fill your hunger up more when eating it is not a bad idea especially if it is new food Types. No point adding a diet feature when players are still going to buy burgers and milk lol

My last reply agrees with what you said here but it still sounds like you may think we disagree.

Also the realism argument is moot, we see tons of unrealistic things in PERP that work because it makes it fun.

Skills and genetics are fine in my opinion because you’re paying shit tons of money for something simple and IMO is more realistic to have gene’s modified than to gain night vision cause you ate a carrot in perp, people want what’s easy.

Im just stating my side, you’re very adamant that all your suggestions are perfect but aren’t, if you summed up an easier and more simple thing like “Big mac that gives more hunger” than people might agree with this.

People do all sorts of strange things in perp that do not in any way benefit themselves, if you just made a suggestion stating about more food diversity than i’d 100% agree but not everything needs to benefit the player, People spent time crafting decorations for shops, on halloween people turned pumpkins into candy to look like iron man for a few days lmao. having a plant pot doesn’t give you buffs and burgers make you sick so how would eating fish work

I agree with this it would be a huge update, add more food options, add a new cooking skill bar and have different temporary (or permanent) buffs . Meat gives you strength and HP, but makes you slower. Salad gives you more agility but takes away strength, etc. Its a cool idea to implement some new game mechanics and actually make use of the restaurant . The new map is cool and all but we need some new gameplay additions to keep the server fresh and interesting for people who've been playing for a while.
