IRL CAR THREAD

im not old enough yet but this is what im rocking right now

Have this soccer mom car since March last year. Opel Mokka,
Here it is being towed as my rear left tyre exploded on the Autobahn while going 130kp/h.

I still have my Mercedes C180 Kompressor W204. Recently gave it a big service myself with spark plugs, battery that just died and other bits after it returned from another Türkiye trip. Also, third party android head units from china fucking suck, don't bother getting custom one's. Just get those dashboard one's that you can put on top of your dash and save yourself the headache if you want to upgrade,
Also gave it retrofit legal LED lights from OSRAM, they look really nice and don't blind you with the power of a thousand suns.
raw

Will definitely try to replace the Mokka with a Toyota GR86 in the next few years as I fell in love with that car and do some cosmetic mods on it but not too much, definitely a spoiler. Germany is also pretty strict on this so I want to keep it clean and simple with all the tuning parts.
Will get an automatic though since they're comfortable and this will be a daily driver, I do not care if you think manual is better for a car like this. Stop and go on the Autobahn is the worst thing ever.

Most likely this silver colour.

If all fails I'll get a new Toyota Prius with company discount.

(not my actual car but 99% accurate)

Fun car to drive around and work on with about 0 mechanic experience, replaced/worked on both front axles, repainted/redone the wheels, had a mechanic replace the transmission cable as well as rebalance the tires and now it's driving smooth again.
Top speed is 144 km/h lmao.

Fun to drift in due to lack of modern day technology, still gotta take it to a forest (track) one day.

The third party headunits from aliexpress are indeed quite bad. I think i luckied out with the one I put in my rallycar, it's pretty okay but i wasted a few days researching which one was good and which one sucked. for my Volvo, my daily driver, i actually found a community working on custom head units based on the fully open source android auto platform, Crankshaft. https://getcrankshaft.com/ or the newer https://hudiy.eu/ allows you to create your own head-unit and there are hundreds of community project that allow it to run on custom displays or the vehicle native screen.

I fell in love with the GR86 years ago. Though personally I'd drive the GT86, but only for nostalgia reasons. Solid car and if you want to daily it definitely get an automatic. Screw the haters, but if it's not going to be a track car, you'll hate yourself if you get a manual!
