Suggestion Title: TFU standoff tactics
Suggestion Description: Policies and procedures in the TFU handbook for standoffs. This would make firearms incidents much more realistic and structured than the cluster of officers doing whatever they think is best during a raid/shootout.

Why should this be added?:
- More realism and structure to major firearms incidents, making the TFU more reliable and consistent

What negatives could this have?:
- May be difficult to make, could be boring for some.

What problem would this suggestion solve?: Firearms incidents being a matter of mainly officer numbers and aim rather than tactics

which length of standoff are you referring to

For example how to hold a door properly as a unit so nobody exits without being aggressive and peeking into it. Just things that minimize the risk of loss of life on both sides.

Depends how long the criminals are willing to wait. Say a property is getting raided and the raiders have got a hold of the defenses inside, the police should be defensive and wait them out rather than hoping to kill them with a push

Imo I don't get what you mean there's a incredibly detailed guide of TFU tactics in the unit's handbook.

This is way too complicated as holding angles requires basic common sense not really a detailed section

Well it would be more than just holding angles

Try telling that to the consistent multitude of newer officers on duty, on a full server. This just simply wouldn't work here, no one wants to just hold angles, you can argue realism and all of that stuff with police departments in real life but I personally am not willing to even go the extra mile to punish an officer because they are playing in their own proportionate way whilst following the current relevant policies and laws.

I mean in the event the TFU get deployed they could employ standoff tactics if they deem it necessary. Currently it just feels a bit too gamey

I understand but the way of enforcing this is just not viable nor will it be any effective in day-to-day operations. I don't think we should be switching up people's way of playing the game, unless it is just blatant incompetency which obviously a lot context would matter in that instance to where an investigation can be launched then through Internal Affairs. TFU can take the initiative to do what you are saying but I can only see such a style you're striving for being replicated at much lower population but to have this down in text is a no from me personally.

Fair enough, I understand your reasoning

TFU are not the only ones in shootouts, in fact, not every shootout has TFU officers if none are available.

What you're suggesting is what @Clarky already said. We have new players joining PLPD and we'd be punishing them for playing a game like a game.

But... There already is a policy in place that is not really enforced as of recently, but perhaps should be:
Officer Handbook - 4(c) - Containment, which states:
  1. Assess the area which needs to be contained.
    • Make sure you evacuate the area which needs to be contained and remind the civilians that if they fail to comply they are committing a criminal offense (section 6.5 of the Penal Code).
    • Remember that only Corporals equipped with the Remington 870 shotgun, supervisors, and TFU are generally supposed to enter the active scene of a contained incident.

The policy allowed for medium-to-high ranking officers to deal with the situation inside slower than nowadays.

This somewhat changed with v6. It seems because the map is a lot more open, there really isn't much of a chance to contain a shootout by holding a single point, such as previously at Projex apartments. If we compare it to Tidals you have probably 5x more angles that the flankers can come from.

It's also very hard to apply real-world tactics, when you are playing against criminals with e-sport tactics.

You guys make a good point. The idea sounded better in my head

This ^

Same thing I was going to say, there are already policies in place for this sort of thing, it just isn't enforced or followed.
