I don’t really have go-to’s and situationally pick a weapon based off of the call out, but, I can assure you there is one definite cure to your situation to make TFU a completely different experience.
If you want a fun raid and have a squad alongside you, and there’s a call out about a raid in a CQB esque environment such as slums, tidals, or anywhere else with corridors and close range encounters, grab a shotgun like the benelli or Mossberg (both basically do the same thing) and use it there, fun experience. When we did TFU training, I would always ensure TFU candidates were given training specifically on shotguns, but tbh the whole ordeal can be taught in text:
- Take point at front.
- After firing, fall back and reload if you fired more than 2 shots and let someone else take point.
- Keep your shells topped up whenever progressing further into the crime scene.
Using a shotgun as TFU encourages coordination and communication with your team far more than any other weapon due to its limited capacity, range and fire rate. It is probably the most intense way to experience heavy TFU gear, as you hold both incredibly strong, yet specific advantages with glaringly obvious and punishing downsides which can be worked around. You’ll be just as dependent on you and your teams use of equipment, your own initiative and reaction time, and your sidearm as you are with your shotgun.
So basically, use shotguns to make TFU a challenging experience and learn to work around disadvantages and use the raw power to your advantage and take point in every situation you weren’t specifically ordered not to take point in.
