Server Suggestion Identity Rework

Suggestion Title: Identity Rework
Suggestion Description: Make a identity system so we dont see peoples names above their heads unless they introduce yourselves to you maybe on the add buddy menu only if they are addes as a buddy they can see your name , same for police they see each others names at all times but dont see names from civilians i think it would help immersion and stop name metagaming. Maybe add a mask item or when you have a mask equipped in clothing you never see the persons name , for police add something in the station so they can see civilians real name above their head

Why should this be added?:
- stop name metagaming on police generally between civilians also changing clothes when warranted or something would make it more interesting for police to find the person as now on cop you see a name you go after the person

What negatives could this have?:
- none really if done correctly

What problem would this suggestion solve?: name meta

Would anything be above the person's head? How would they be identified for the purposes of reporting a rule breaker?

Give each player a shorthand ID like they do in the funny car game.

Yeah thats why i said if done correctly but if u dont know the person just put their server id above their head or something then u can maybe get their steam name over it on the tab menu

Eh- Sure the numbers are great, but I can already barely read the names in the evidence in reports, since people apparently record on 480p.

So idk if numbers would really bring more than they would actually cause issues overall.

Recognizing and remembering people is already as hard as-is. Giving them another layer to hide behind would be horrid.

Like imagine you wanted to kill Chase Ramirez, but there's also John Awesomeman. They look alike. So now you have to figure out whether you want to kill 516748 or 511348.

You can describe or recognise someone if you have seen a good amount of their face. Recognition is based on remembering someone’s name, which allows you to identify them even after a change in clothing. You must not change your name or face when warranted or being hunted.

for pd lets say make the names from civilians visible in interrogration room areas and jaill cell areas for civs i guess they just either get enough evidence its the guy or not you dont gotta get revenge everytime if u dont figure it out they got away with it how it should be

If you really don't want to see names you can turn them off via the options menu. I've done it and it makes identifying people more challenging.

This would do more harm than good. Staff would have more situations where people struggle to report who they are reporting and also players would end up killing the wrong player a LOT of the time, especially if it’s org related

We need to avoid making PERP like santos/monolith. We saw how both those servers ended. Shit for new players.

Perp spent ages trying to improve the server for new players, such as the guide/tutorial and “new player doors” when it was dying itself years ago

Call me stupid but I personally think THIS, “initiation” and making guns have a chance of jamming depending on the % of it being used single handily caused them to die

You can also turn it off via f1 options if it is ruining your immersion

See I figured it would be something like this, but here's the issue, I'm not gonna remember some fucking number above someone's head if I wanna recognize them without some whole buddy type system.

noone said u gotta remember the number the number is there just for video clipping identification for rule breakers if u know somone they introduce once and u see their name above their head forever only if they wear a mask you dont see their name again but just a number

Names are the way we identify people in a game.

Unlike real life, we don’t have distinguishing facial features, no face is unique; there is no way to distinguish people at a glance from others without their roleplay name.

Removing names above heads would make the game unnecessarily difficult and not be friendly to new players
