From the clip alone all it seems that was said to store the weapon. After the weapon was stored, the officer put the gun away, which the person used to run away.

You're thinking fingerprints, not DNA. You don't leave enough traceable DNA to be identified from touching objects most of the time unless you're licking your bullet casings. Which if you are.. please stop.

An important thing to note is that bullets realistically also typically don't leave the DNA of the perpetrator on the victim's body. So for those struggling that not all features are realistic, but are instead for the purpose of gameplay, consider that first.
