What law do you wish to change/add:
4.X: Voluntary surrender:
Any wanted person(s) who voluntarily surrenders themselves to the police, either by heading to the Police Station, or calling police to their location will always entitled to a reduced sentence and citation for their crimes unless an officer ranked Lieutenant+ Objects. Any person(s) who finds themselves in possession of restricted or illegal possessions or substances may turn in those items to the police and may not receive criminal charges for possessing those items.
Why should this change/addition be made:
Legally entitling people to a reduced sentence as the NPC at PD promises once you hand yourself in, Since people still get 10 years 10k tickets when they surrender themselves, making surrendering themselves almost always a pointless endeavour.
What is the aim of this change/addition:
There is 2 main parts to this law:
Encouraging officers to follow what the desk NPC tells the suspect when it comes to surrendering themselves at PD for warrants:
This will:
- Give legal complications to officers who see someone they don't like hand themselves in for a warrant and said officer giving them max sentence out of spite.
- Encourage more people to hand themselves in rather than sitting at bazaar shooting cops.
- Allowing people to legally forfeit illegal / restricted items whilst still protecting them from criminal charges due to technicalities within the law allowing said actions.
