Why should this player be punished?: Player killed me for no reason while raiding me when i had no weapon out or nothing all i said was hey and he popped me in the head.

Hi, sorry I didn't get the answer right away, I just created my forum account here, but the reason I shot him was because I was raiding with my friend, then I hear the door being opened, then I'm ready to shoot because I think anyone who opens the door while the crowbar is going to shoot the person, so I come and shoot him a little too quickly without him having a weapon out, and I can see now that it wasn't that smart, so I apologize for that, I'm sensitive, and it won't happen next time, I want to make sure they have a gun out, so sorry about that

I opened the door because I thought I heard something and i thought it was my neighbors so i went to go check it out to see if it was me. and I was about to head back to bazaar to go sell items over there. and i ran into those guys and all i said was oh hey

yes, i heard it from my bedroom so i thought it was my next door neighbor

This is a tricky situation, and I was initially on the fence about whether to accept or deny this. I do completely understand why you made the action request.

However, the lockpicking sound is quite noticeable, and you have confirmed that this was the sound that made you open the door to investigate. While you believed the sound was coming from your neighbour, you did not consider that someone could potentially be lockpicking your own door. By opening the door to investigate the sound, you walked into the raid yourself. This defeats the element of surprise that rule 2.5 mentions (which is intended to protect you from dying while unarmed and not surrendering).

The argument that you were still technically unaware that a raid was taking place and were unarmed at the time is very understandable, which is why I was on the fence about this. However, given that you voluntarily investigated the sound of a lockpick, I do not believe the circumstances meet the intended meaning of being “surprised” during a silent raid.
That being said, @Lucci , I would advise you to be careful in situations like this going forward. This was quite a borderline situation, and had the circumstances been slightly different, I could have reached a different conclusion.

However, I do not believe @Lucci violated Rule 2.5 at this time.
