What is VRMOD?
VRMod is a mod that allows players with a virtual reality headset to maneuver around in a 2004 Garry's Mod with the new technology that we have today.
How does it work?
VrMod allows you to play garry's mod by being able to see your health, rebind keys, move around normally and check all health and necessary statistics easily.
What VR headset is required?
You can do this with any VR headset, In fact you can even do it with the oldest Oculus Quest (What I personally have)!.
Does VRMod allow non-vr players to see your vr movement?
Yes actually. If the Add-on is added then any player who joins will be able to see your arms moving in real life!
Why should this be added?:
- Fun experimental addition
- More personal roleplay
- easy to work with and made to function
- allows for a wider audience of players
- gives a deeper level of immersion and roleplay
- Has been done on other RP servers before and has actually worked somewhat. (depends on the scripts running)
- People become animated when they are in VR giving more immersion to not only the VR player but also everybody around them!
- Players can actually pick up items precisely and place them precisely in VR but not freeze them so that for example if someone wanted to build a shop they can do that way easier in VR compared to the picking up in PERP on screen mode as it is manipulated by your own arms if you lack the funds to afford premium for a physgun!
What negatives could this have?:
- The player who willingly chooses to use this will almost be crippled but have many more abilities to roleplay with.
- Blind firing could become a tactic however extremely inaccurate counting the recoil and the one handed grip
- May require players to configure binds to have a fully working control bound layout.
