The NPC cannot see David, but they can see you, Plus you should always go along with the sit even if you think they are breaking the rules and then report it. And get your stuff back by doing a Refund Request.

Hi There,

If you want me to take your AR seriously you could at least do me the courtesy of spelling my name right, you've done this a few times I'm not sure if you're trying to be funny or if you genuinely have learning difficulties or something.

As Ophelia points out above the NPC cannot see me from where I am stood, we went to the shop to verify this. Please explain to me why you broke 3.4 by running away from my gunpoint and not complying with my demands? That is the real question here.

While @LilChicken should not have mugged you in a city shop, where criminal activity is visible to anyone passing by, including the gas station npc, you should have complied with him gun-pointing you.
