Punishment Type: Ban
Punishment Subtype: Community Wide Ban
Appeal Type: Dispute[Evidence]
Which staff member issued the punishment?: @Medium
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: Permanent
Your Steam Name: eugene baltimore
Your Roleplay Name: Yahya Ali
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:1:46527301
Why were you punished?: 1.1, 1.4 - User was being disrespectful towards a Staff Member and was constantly changing his name to unrealistic names, even after being told it was not okay.
Why should this appeal be considered?: So the name change and disrespect being a permanent ban is ludicrous considering how inconvenient it was for the server's overall health, I didn't know "staff disrespect" was a thing, - a man's fun is being ruined, at least I'd expect you to take it on the chin when you intervene - but I digress.
The whole name change issue is very vague. Every day I walk past people, "Tat Crazzo", "Crat Pro", people being named every bullshit thing under the sun, even admins and moderators having "unrealistic names" as was part of my ban reason.
The events as I understand them go like this; I see people with funny and idiotic names, people making fun of stereotypes like making characters of visible african descent have prefixes like De-, La-, Sha-, Ta- in front of their names making whatever unholy creation they can think up of, clearly not as an extention of the servers "realistic naming policy" but as a lighthearted jab in analog of contextual naming practices, it's not unkown that most people who play this server do not have those prefixes attached to their IRL name, commonly seen in some African-American communities. I set my name to something stupid, "Goyberg" or some shit, not to offend anyone at all, but with the same careless attitude of the guys you run by EVERY DAY on the server with stupid names.
I get my name removed, which has happened before, never with a real explanation of what a realistic name or what went wrong in my previous names, I'll get banned for "having an unrealistic name" yet when the name-changing menu is put forth to me, I have to make an uneasy compromise, wherein the server doesn't tell me what went wrong with my previous name, people have even stupider names that don't get changed, and having to choose a name I like. These are parodies; I didn't mean to hurt anyone's feelings, and I sincerely doubt I did.
After another attempt, vaguely described as "not aligning with server policy", I changed it to what I believe is literally just an abrahamic/heavily hebrew name, something "Ben-Menachem Cohenberg."
This name does not attack Jewish Identity, and I didn't WANT to attack Jewish Identity, as I was accused of anti-semitism in the Discord.
When the aforementioned name was then also removed, I thought - again, given no actual explanation for why the name wasn't suitable - the problem was that it was a Hebrew/Abrahamic name. I think in the same logic as the weird names I see, it can be silly, but can't outright be Hebrew. "Epp Stein", although a bit on the nose, I thought that was the trick, since the previously simply hebrew name was banned. I thought that was the trick, but it seemingly wasn't, and you changed my ban from 2 months to permanent.
I would be content with a long month ban if that's the wish of the server, but permanent is ridiculous, don't give me the option to walk on a field and then blame me for stepping on the landmines.
