Topic: dispatch role assignment



Short explanation (in notes):
- When you sign into a computer a text menu pops up to click role you will assume (can be changed at any time)

Detailed description (why should it become added/...):
When dispatchers sign on, it would be very helpful for them to have a screen when they log onto the computer with the following options to check (ones that are taken has the dispatchers name next to it) ((NOTE Things to take away/add are bracketed below the quote))
  • Primary Communications
  • Secondary Comms
  • CCTV Operator
  • Call handler
Primary/Secondary Comms - Hears radio only but communicates to all via radio (other dispatchers via TS)
CCTV Operator - cannot hear radio or phone calls (communicates to other Dispatchers via TeamSpeak)
Call Handler - cannot hear the radio and all phone calls are forwarded to person in this position (if none they get handled by secondary/primary comms)

Its just better to sort this out in Teamspeak IMO. So you can all chip in if the dedicated 'communications guy' etc is doing something.

Since this falls under our remit i'm going to go ahead and deny this.

Dispatchers must be on teamspeak when on duty and can use that as a method of communication; you need to be adaptive and come up with new ideas when you need them so set roles would be silly seeing as though you can all just work it out on teamspeak.

My reasoning for this (sorry cant comment it due to adding an image) is that in TS you still get calls all over the place i.e. CCTV get calls and so do primary comms so Call handler get a hit & miss for calls but we have this setup on TS currently
