Quarter 1/Quarter 2's Employee Satisfaction Survey is now closed, a total of 29 responses were submitted and gave us a wide range of opinions and feedback. We would like to thank everyone who submitted a response for taking the time to do so, here is some of the feedback given to us and our thoughts about them.
Names may have been removed, but responses have not been edited in any other way. Spelling and grammar is exactly the same as how responses have been submitted.
Some additional commentary has been added by John Davids, the Deputy Chief of Department, to some responses. All pieces of feedback have been reviewed and made available to the command teams.
How likely are you to recommend joining PLPD to a friend or new player?
bita fun
For a new player it is a good way for them to interact with people whom on civ they wouldn't usually potentially creating them friends. Also good way to earn money.
Plpd is hell / we’ll give you ptsd
The amount of dedication and work that has been put in to the PLPD and Server overall is very hard to find in any other gamemode or game server
it can help u grow a name and its pretty fun until ur the only one on duty with a pistol but without jokes its a nice place to meet people and learn
The PLPD is an amazing job to work for in Paralake, and the experience can help with loads of things. However, it requires a sharp mind and ability to cope in tough situations, I know myself times when I've been overwhelmed by two suspects telling me different stories and shouting things at me.
I feel like, although PLPD has a lot of negatives its a very fun learning experience, and there is many people throughout the PD who are incredible.
Not like they have much of a choice
No because the entire PLPD is filled with bias
Any complaints of biased conduct are taken very seriously and any evidence will be treated confidentially. Members of the Senior Management Team continuously monitor for biased decisions made by command members to ensure fairness in the department.
My friend may not own gmod
It’s overall a fun job and I enjoy helping new people to join by teaching them the ropes. I have made good friends in the PLPD and it’s good pay lol
The PLPD has a lot of policies that they need to learn, thats why i give 6.
I do appreciate that there are a lot of policies to learn. I am actively looking at ways to streamline the onboarding process for new officers which includes making policies more accessible. If any new officers have any specific pieces of feedback, please make a helpdesk ticket towards the Chiefs of Department.
The shootout aspects I know new players tend to avoid, thats why when I'm patrolling with them, I usually try to do roleplay scenarios, such as traffic stops, investigations etc.
Introducing new officers to other scenarios first is an excellent idea as shootouts can be daunting at first.
"It's an overall fun experience, however, there is some improvements I would like. One such change would be vehicles, as the unmarked Ford Crown Victoria is something I desperately want, something that nobody really uses, and something which would be cool as hell to drive around in as a Senior Officer. Pretty peak if you ask me, just that would increase my answer to a solid 9/10.
Unmarked vehicles generally are quite well used and only one (or two if the mayor enables a policy) can be used at a time.
Additionally, I think that Senior Officers (in patrol/traffic) should have more firepower (i.e. access to some other handguns like the P226, potentially an MP5/carbine with a certification separate to TFU (sort of like Taser, but probably with stricter requirements and scrutiny."
Because its all about those who know the higher ups that are going upwards and being promoted to higher ranks. Its all about eating someones ass.
I find it quite hard how much effort it is for me to enjoy being on duty currently, hence I would recommend to do different jobs/things with friends.
Is good
In the last seven days, I have received recognition or praise for doing good work.
Not a single award even after bringing some higherups
As i have an LOA i havent in the last 7 days but prior to this i do recive comments and praises for my work on a regular basis from people ranking SO+
"i mainly gain praise of of ORs i havent really been told hey ur doing a good job of anyone and i dont think many other people have been told so either
To be honest, it's not often I get praise or recognition for my work, but sometimes, just someone saying "nice job" or "good handling there" is good enough, and that's not to say that it doesn't happen at all, but it's not often I'm recognised by a higher up.
While on duty I try to give my appreciation to other officers who are especially helpful towards me (for example: performing good traffic control, transporting suspects, and being stategic during shootouts). I will seek to encourage other command members to do the same.
i am a plpd top shotta and do not get any kind of praise for my efforts in the plpd
Lmao I never been recognized for my good work. No matter how hard I work even in the last 2 years I been in the department I never been recognized for my hard work. Even when I try my hardest for marking taser applications hardly anyone notices or me trying hard as a SGT no one ever cares.
This has been fed back to the Patrol command team.
Havent been on pd this week
A lot of people have been saying I’ve been doing good work especially Sergeants. I feel like they’re always the easiest to talk to.
i was not active but i dont get them anyways
As a sergeant, I'm more there for support. I'm the one giving praise rather than the one receiving.
I have only played once in the last seven days, owing to ongoing exams, and generally I don't receive much recognition unless I'm dispatching.
Because I havent recieved any. SSGG and above does not care about their role to help and see lower ranked
Cant answer, was not on duty.
No one says anything makes an officer lose motivation
I have the materials such as guides, policies and procedures to do my job well.
Every division has it policy's / handbook etc. If I'm ever in need I can go look at their resources and everything I need is there.
I always have a cheat sheet so I don’t fuck up
There is an extensive ammount of materials and guidelines and it has almost everything you would need. Its jsut a little hard sometimes to find what you are specifically looking for
"Ex chief LSPD
Ex lieutenant SAST
Ex deputy chief BSCO im pretty well up to date on knowledge and procedures "
Yes, the handbooks and guides are very good in directing me what to do. I find it very handy to have them.
it can be confusing to get around
Especially with the new PLPD website, we have tried to simplify the policies and resources. If there is something that is particularly confusing, please contact the relevant command team.
Whilst the handbook and resources are good, they are complicated and sometimes hard to navigate, most of what I learnt when I was a newer officer was by observing other officers as I had difficulties navigating the resources and handbook as its not very clearly played out
As mentioned above, I am currently looking at making a more digestible introduction for new officers.
Because I wrote half of them…
Thank you for your service.
It has helped me alot to understand the policies of the plpd
All handbooks and other resources are very extensive. I feel like I would be able to tackle any challenge coming my way.
Some things are missing or hard to find in all of the handbooks
As a supervisor, knowing where all policies are helps me answer questions regarding situations asked by officers
The equipment available to patrol officers is lacking, and there needs to be additional non-lethal options for use of force, such as PAVA Spray (essentially pepper spray), which would be an ideal use of force that keeps someone at a distance if they are armed with, for example, a knife, preventing many incidents from escalating to firearms being discharged.
A knife is a lethal weapon and should be treated as such according to the Use of Force policy.
Materials is out there & usable. Its sometimes hard to actualy apply knowledge from policy on duty without having seen others do it first.
Patrolling with others is the best way to learn. I do appreciate this can be difficult to achieve however so I’m thinking about ways to improve this.
Help is available from supervisors or other members of the PLPD when I have a problem.
From my experience we are all happy to help each other regardless of the situation.
I’m a lone wolf
Most people are more than happy to help and ive had this experience since i first joined the PD.
most supervisors are decently helpfull the main ones that come to note are alexis shelby, adain shefield or whatever he changes his name to every day, and jack alex peterson, and lewis vin fent
Thank you for sharing this. I will reach out to these officers to thank them on your behalf.
Yes, I feel as if I can ask a question if I need help, however, when I was a new officer, there would be times when I didn't know something and people would get annoyed. I remember one time I was shouted at on the radio for asking a few times for the arresting officer of someone.
Unfortunately the radio can get crowded which can lead to frustration when there’s a priority situation which requires clean communications. However, I am sorry that you have been shouted at over the radio and understand how this can be discouraging.
they sometimes decline the request
This is going back a while now but when I was lower ranked i found most supervisors and above really easy to approach and ask questions
Mostly never, I got a warning for not doing my ORs and I even talked to the Command members and never got an answer when I needed help
The best way to communicate with command members is through the helpdesk system. The Senior Management Team regularly monitors the helpdesk to ensure all queries are answered within a reasonable timeframe although there are sometimes reasonable excuses for a delayed response, which we apologise for.
I got called a "retarded pistol cop" once so I don't really supervisors to get help so I don't get ridiculed by another supervisor
This is not language which should be used. Please reach out to me regarding this situation.
I feel like it depends on the officer you’re asking. Some officers and supervisors are very willing to help you but others on rare occasions aren’t so curious.
Supervisors and especially command members, while they should generally be available for support, have many responsibilities which take a large amount of time and effort. Supervisor situations can last for tens of minutes and can be quite draining.
Some would love to help, others will just leave you on seen
Sometimes, there might not be supervisors on, but during a recent supervisor sit, I was asked to give perspective, to which I accidentally led the outcome.
It's generally available, at least in-game.
All issues raised per PLPD.online are swiftly worked on, but having to more or less beg for people to patrol & write ORs remains absolutely demoralising.
Good except when theres no supervisors on
Are you proud to be a member of the PLPD?
Its the PLPD, its not only a chance to become a member of another community but also a chance to meet new people.
Hell no ptsd simulator
I feel very didicated to my role as a supervisor within the force and im very happy i found this server and joined the PLPD. I have managed to gain friends here and i almost always have a good time when playing.
im proud to be a member cause of the people ive met and the amount ive learned and helped people learn do to my past experinces
It is a very good role, as I previously said, and I would like to go higher up in the chain of command in order to help as many fellow officers as possible.
no i feel as my efforts are meaningless
I feel as if I have found myself in a really good position, people like me and how I handle things. At least from what I've seen
Wooo virtual cop!
Somewhat. I can work hard for my position but never get recognized for it .
almost perfect but plpd as a patrol officer is black screen simulator
It’s a fun job, good pay I don’t see why I wouldn’t be proud. It’s not like I’m flexing my membership but I wouldn’t hide it.
I was on the thumbnail of a Bub Games video at age 16, I have received unending harassment and abuse from members of the public, and it continues even after my brains are blown out by some twat with an AS50 sniper rifle. I'd say I'm proud to be Paralake's finest canon fodder.
Having been with the fire service quite a lot recently, I have noticed a number of officers having an extremly bossy & outright uncooperative stance towards other Emergency Services. Calling out orders for medics based on personal preferences rather then urgency, not answering when emergency services ask questions (Which staircase regals, pulse checks). I even once had observed a Sergeant threathening a firefighter after their panics, requests for help & complaints in text based about another firefighter being shot got ignored.
Several of these situations you have listed could be considered misconduct. While on duty, I will be on the lookout for repeats of this reported behaviour and will act accordingly to remediate them.
My opinions seem to count.
As a trainer / investigator I feel they do listen to the input I provide ( in the PLPD discord ).
I’m a damn supervisor respect my authority
everyone has their own opinion and no ones opinion is wrong
It really depends. I feel as though it doesn't matter as much due to only being an SO, but I usually feel confident voicing my opinions.
they dont care about me
It really depends on the situation, I don't really have a say in many things. If its in character situations then yes
Never, if I bring something up about something they just shrug it off.
I don't really give much opinions but when I do they are counted
In game, depending on the officers on scene my opinions do usually matter. However out of server I don’t really spread my opinions so I don’t expect much to come from them.
Most of the time if its something that would help
I don't have much standing as a Senior Officer, although I suppose my previous suggestion of an unmarked Crown Victoria being available to Senior Officers and not Sergeants is a good benchmark, and I will gladly increase my score if I can book out one of those cars.
I feel like as an officer and within PLPD.online I am able to voice issues & conerncs. Those are also heard & reviewed.
Corporals arent asked anything, except when theres no one else to ask
While there is a chain of command, I would still hope that lower ranked officers are asked for their opinion as valued members of the PLPD.
What’s the best thing that has happened to you in the PLPD these past 3 months?
I beat an IA case against all odds
i just buss case on 4 IAs
I won #SKIDMARK
Congratulations, participating in campaigns is a nice way to give focus for your patrols.
After a silly taser incident I was able to reinstate back in RTU / TFU trainer
Not being demoted
Me becoming sergeant and finding friends along the way
hard to say but id say joining traffic and hopefully joining RTFO and megasaw and his great understanding and help
Quite hard to pick, but one thing that really sticks out is being in a high speed pursuit of a suspect vehicle, which I led, and being praised for my communications, and eventually catching the suspect.
not much but me being top shotta
Most days I receive feedback from my Supervisors and coworkers about my performance.
i dont need it
I personally try to give feedback e.g. telling an officer good work at a raid etc. However I don't believe I personally ever got given this on duties, with the exception of in RTU / TFU training or during an investigation.
Oh yes I get scolded from time to time
As i stated previusly i have always recived praise for my work since i joined the force
"i generally feel like supervisors dont notice people at all or high ranks i do think they can be stuborn/full of them self and it kinda is upsetting that people are like that obv there is a few that do notice the good work but a decent amount generally dont care and dont say anything
I will be on the lookout for supervisors who are not acting professionally while on duty.
As I said with the praises question, it's not often this happens, unless I request an OR.
I don't really feel this applies to me. I rarely ask for feedback, most of the time im giving the feedback
Probably for ORs when I do them incorrectly
Not much from supervisors if your not counting OR's but I have got alot from co-workers
I try to attend supervised supervisor sits and I usually ask for feedback. Or even if we’re just on a scene I ask for feedback as I can always improve.
Not anymore
I just don't.
Because you just dont
As already mentioned, most days one has to practicaly beg for ORs.
Becoming patrol trainer
I have received the officer of the month award and got promoted to Sergeant
Nothing
Being promoted and entrusted to serve in patrol command.
Becoming a senior officer
Becoming Corporal by far. It allows me to help new officers so much I genuinely love it.
Becoming command member
Getting Sergeant.
Not being demoted again.
N/A
i had a Very good patrol with a Friend as a Transport Unit
Nothing
sgt
Got my RTU & Dispatch certification back.
Patrolling with Vollgas because that officer is extremely skilled in his job, felt like patrolling with a CoD
If you had a magic wand, what's the one thing you would change about PLPD?
Revise the handbook
If there is anything specific that you think needs revising, please get in touch.
Stop the revolving door of command team members, feel like every month somebody leaves from some divison.
Being a command member is a volunteer role which does require a significant time commitment so, while unfortunate, command members leaving roles is inevitable.
access to the plpd.online api

IA and Complaint Committee punish too harshly and make playing PD feel like you are walking on permanent egg shells. In a lot of cases it seems like they care more about the criminals and their completely petty and unwarranted complaints than the Officers regardless of how decent they are overall & what the specific violation was.
Give RTU white hats or change the OR requirements. At the moment you are required to provide 2 OR's to lower ranking officers which don't get me wrong is a good thing however I believe this should be decreased to 1 OR if you have some sort of admin tasks due to you may also have to do probation patrols etc.
Make our chief more fit
We’ve tried.
I would most likely just make the handbook a little easier to navigate
general maintenance or chain of command i feel like the entire rank system needs a fresh reset or an training map for every month for officers where u take them to a map and train them or look over them see how good they are see if they need improvement kinda just teach and look over them see if they are up to date with generally the way plpd operates ive came across many situation where officers are generally just clueless and dont have a clue on what they are doing i feel like a training system that happens like every 2 week or every month can be a really good help in improving people at doing their job and helping them learn and become better officers and handle situation the amount of times ive seen officers break the law or deny superivisor requests and so on is absured and should be fixed and i think that a training system would help alot
As mentioned before, training and command members are volunteers who generously donate their time to run the PLPD. This means that we can only run a limited number of training sessions, usually for division or certification applications. We are however looking at more opportunities for training sessions in the future.
Harder to get again. 90% of the new sergeants are useless.
I feel that the RTU time booking is quite confusing. I've been sent four Doodle forms, and I've filled them all in, but every single one has different times. Very confusing.
give me tfu right now with more pay
Application process. I feel for people with dyslexia or English as a second language they can really struggle with applying for written exams, I've noticed a lot of times if I fail a taser application its because the person wasn't a native English speaker and couldn't put their ideas on paper.
Implement the weight watchers program
Not gonna go into that.
Each rank would get one primary weapon
For server balancing reasons, this is not going to happen.
Give gas masks to IC TFU. It allows police to actually enter meth explosions and it makes sense. Swat do have gas masks and it removes the idea of Fire Fighters having to deal with it. It’s also easier to distinguish IC and heavy gear.
Add a search bar on the site so you can find the stuff you need , not scroll for a year to find a policy. When I think about it, it seems like a skill issue, but yeah.
The unmarked Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor being available to all officers ranked Senior Officer or above, rather than Sergeant or above, and being available for patrol officers to provide them with increased variety and useful unmarked vehicles that have a purpose in intercepting vehicles or suspects on foot that would otherwise flee from a marked police vehicle.
Senior Officers do get access to a number of weapons, pieces of equipment, and vehicles over Officers as well as the ability to apply to join the Tactical Firearms Unit. Senior Officers get do access to an unmarked vehicle (the Ford Transit) and the rank requirement for the unmarked Crown Victoria is Corporal.
a way to get Promoted from Probationary Dispatch to Dispatch
Remove everyone and make a new start. New faces.
els
I would set up a working group, likely under Patrol Command, with the goal of teaching communications.
Make a better sgt application, I like not having to write anything but i feel like its completely random on who gets it wnd who doesnt, know a couple of guys that applied out of fun and got it without effort, even being cpl for a week only!
Sergeant applications are reviewed by Operations Services command to ensure applicants are of the required standard to hold such an important supervisory role. All denied applications should have feedback and the command teams are available for further contact via the helpdesk.
Is there anything else on your mind which you'd like to tell us?
N/A
Our chief is overweight
No not really
i think that regular officers should have an Assault rifle in their trunk if their is 0 TFU on their is a high risk situation like a hostage situation or a bank robbery or a massive raid where they are heavily armed i think that officer ranked corporal or senior officers get the assault rifle in their trunk for big situations like those i think it would generally help in many situation but i also do think their should be a application to apply for one to get an assault rifle in or trunk for ONLY highly big risk situations where u would seriously need one and u get trained how to use one and when to use them
For server balancing reasons, this is not going to happen.
give me tfu
N/A
No
No
I feel like many supervisors eventually get sick of newer officers after being a sergeant for a while. I rarely see them every interact with officers and many supervisors just give their 2 monthly ORs to their friends.
nah
Can you also add the Smith & Wesson Model 29 to the Senior Officer's arsenal of firearms, please? Other than that, I can't think of anything.
Senior Officers already get access to two revolvers. The SW Model 29 is available for Sergeants.
no
Thank you all that responded to this ESS. This is valuable information that Human Resources gets and relays to each Command Team. If you have anything further you would like to clarify on, please make a HelpDesk ticket and we will get the ticket directed to the right team!
