Freezing every few seconds

  • Go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\GarrysMod\garrysmod\cfg\"
  • Edit your autoexec.cfg file
  • Add these lines & Save:
Code:
rate 60000
cl_interp 0.0375
cl_interp_ratio 2
cl_cmdrate 66
cl_updaterate 66
  • Right click Gmod in steam -> Properties
  • In the launch options add:
-high -nojoy -nosteamcontroller -nohltv +exec autoexec.cfg

  • Also ensure you're on X86-64 Chromium in the Betas tab
Try this out and let me know what happens

That was a frame stutter, absolutely nothing to do with your Internet.

It could be your in game settings, could be you need to verify your files on steam, could be HDD or SSD, just by looking at that clip you can see that the frame rate stutters, it's going to be either a file, CPU, GPU or hard drive issue.
His game is rendering fine. Check the net_graph as it is still updating, this issue is internet related.

I sometimes had these stutters but they lasted a solid 3 seconds instead. It could be wrong network settings in your Garry's Mod or some weird routing issue to your ISP.

Disable your wireless/wi-fi and try only with a wired connection. See if that helps first.

Edit: It also wouldn't hurt to update your drivers. You can get them from your motherboard manufacturer's website (which are sometimes outdated) or the other method I prefer is to just look up the hardware ID in device manager. The top result is probably what you want, paste it into a Google search and you will get whatever network card you have on your motherboard if it doesn't have a name in device manager for some reason.

Don't download the drivers from some dodgy website. Get the from the manufacturer, in this case it would be Intel.

doesnt sound "new" or "upgraded" if the BIOS is outdated

Didn't make an improvement.

I don't believe a word you say

Run a continuous ping to your router in the background on cmd

ping 192.168.0.1 -t
If 192.168.0.1 isn't your router's gateway, find it by running ipconfig and pinging the given 'Default Gateway' and adding -t at the end to make it continuous

When the stuttering happens, does your ping to your router spike?
