So, once I finally have this 3 year hell of a paramedic certification behind me I'll finally make enough to get my own place. Unfortunately though, I completely lack the imagination and skills of an interior designer, but still don't want to live in a room with 4 white walls, a couch&TV.

I'll probably buy most furniture at IKEA. Like Ibracadabra said, that's where intelligent people buy their furniture.

Any ideas for decorations especially would be great, not necessarily specific pieces but maybe vendors/sites that offer nice stuff at decent quality that also won't cost me all of my salary.

Yeah unfortunately I'm the guy who lacks imaginiation at its finest. Didn't knew you were intelligent though.
