I currently own a Steel Series Nova 1.

I do not use or care for head set mics. My setup includes a standalone mic (MAONO AU-A04) with a boom arm.

Considering upgrading audio but I’m not sure which route is better,

IEM?

My eyes are on Truthear Zero V1 Blues

Headphones?

My eyes are on Beyerdynamic DT770

Personal note:
I do not make music or work with audio. I am but a humble gamer lol. I feel like it is going to be very difficult for me to justify a 180$ price tag for the headphones, but I’d like to learn more before making a decision.

Rog Pelta is pretty good, you dont need to spend a lot of money to get something good.

IEM's might cause faster fatigue so I don't recommend it for longer listening sessions. I have the Truthear Hexa and while those are comfortable and grippy with the right tips (Xelastec Gen 2) I prefer headphones on my desktop.

DT-770 Pro are good for the price for closed back and so far I really love my open back Sony MDR-MV1 which are really light weight.

It seems like it’s probably up to preference.

I’m seeing mixed opinions too, like this video praising IEMs and people in the comments sharing the sentiment.
