Don't miss out on meals, I did this because I thought I was fat. Now I'm under 5 stone at the age of 12 and lack the energy to do proper exercise and feel sick when I eat normal portions. It's the worst feeling ever so please don't miss meals.
Running and lifting helps. You gain muscle weight since you don't eat more than usually. Eating less is bullshit, you'll just pack more when you start eating normally again. Check for meat-free alternatives, they're usually lighter but still stuff you.
