What are people's thoughts on hiding names from people who have never interacted, but making a system where if a player shares their name with a player by holding E on them or something to reveal their name to the player they are interacting with, and the other player can choose to share their name by doing the same.

This is purely conversation just wondering peoples thoughts

Names are visible for administration purposes, or so was the information I learned quite some time ago. It makes sense the way it is right now, since it's far too easy for someone to go on a killing spree and be unable to even give the name of the person doing it to staff.

Could just replace names with ID's

It's just generally easier and convenient to identify people by name especially if you're trying to garner their attention or if it's someone with a KOS but has identical clothing to others (sweater for example), people should still follow the premise of finding out their name in-character if they are to use their name for things such as setting a warrant on them but it shouldn't have to always be a necessity in credibly minor scenarios

Optionally in the F1 settings menu, you can turn off names yourself if that is what you'd prefer personally but I think changing this wouldn't have a positive reception
