Today we remember the people who lost their lives in the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda. In just a 100 days, over a million innocent people were killed, and families and communities were torn apart in ways that are hard to fully understand.

The violence didn’t come out of nowhere, it was built up over time through division, hate, and propaganda that turned people against each other. That’s part of why this day matters so much.

We think of those who didn’t survive, and we stand with those who are still living with the pain today. It’s also a reminder of how dangerous hate and silence can be if no one speaks up.

Let’s keep choosing respect, kindness, and looking out for each other, so something like this never happens again in our lifetime. #Kwibuka
