Suggestion Title: Metal surveying and treasure hunting
Suggestion Description: With the introduction of shovels we have gotten a nice side income for treasure hunting for valuables. This suggestion is a little expansion for the shovel, allowing you to search for metals (such as silver, gold), magnetic metals or just junk in general.
The equipment for this should be expensive and carry risks we will get to later.
There are multiple types of surveying devices all with different strengths and weaknesses but for gameplay we will just generalize things and use one of the most common one:
VLF metal detectors are the most common for treasure hunting and finds any conductive metal such as iron, steel, silver, gold, aluminium...
They can be found everywhere with dry soil. Having one in hand will play increasingly frequent beeps (the one we all know) depending how close you are to a possible find.
Once located, a small transparent mound will appear in your vision. Here you will have to use your shovel to dig out what you found. These mounds are invisible until spotted with a VLF, the mound will only appear transparent to you and no one else. These can be found anywhere on dry soil, just like randomly generated digging spots we currently have.
Anyone around you will also be able to hear your VLF but at a different tone compared to yours in case someone else uses a VLF next to you so you can distinguish who found something. This will carry the risk of other people also finding your treasure.
The rewards for these shouldn't be crazy high but something else for treasure hunters to use to make a bit more income. Rare earth metals can be sold directly to vendors or to a new NPC that can value the quality/quantity of your materials. For this we could replace the Puffer Mart or come up with a new spot in the city.
Drops can be:
Gold nuggets.
Refined metal (as it currently is like with shovels).
Tin cans.
Junk.
More junk.
Ammunition.
Undetonated ammunition (you better run when you dig these up).
...you get the idea.
The VLF detector itself should be more expensive than the shovel, costing upwards of $5,000 to $15,000. These also come with the risk of mugging. Make sure you can only carry one in your inventory or else we will have people gobbling these up by mugging everyone.
Why should this be added?:
-Expansion for treasure hunting with the shovel, carrying more risk and reward.
-More potential for hidden/secret items to be excavated.
What negatives could this have?:
-People who treasure hunt are already a big target, now they are an even bigger one due to the expensive equipment and treasure they now carry.
-Loot tables are not balanced and as rare as shovels, making this an even less rewarding income than just shovels.
What problem would this suggestion solve?: Carry more risks and rewards for people who like going on treasure hunts with shovels.
