PREFACE

Welcome to the April 2025 edition of the Monthly Roundup. This newsletter is designed to keep our employees and the public updated with any changes in the city or department. Attached to the newsletter will be a message from the office of the Chiefs of Department, awards, key moments and careers. Any additions to the newsletter please contact Human Resources via helpdesk.

MESSAGE FROM THE CHIEF

I would like to begin by thanking the Senior Management Team, the Advisory Board, and the Office of the Chiefs of Department for authorizing my promotion to Deputy Chief of Department. I would also like to thank the Tactical Firearms Units command team and training team for being the best team I could ask for. Now, sentiment aside, I would like to run everyone through the notable developments and occurrences, both past and future.

During this month, both Nottoc and 3izu resigned from their positions as Deputy Chief of Department. I would like to take the time to thank them on behalf of the Office of the Chiefs of Department for their invaluable contributions to ensuring that the department is running smoothly and contributing to several very major changes for the better of the department, and consequently for those who are a part of it. Their levels of commitment, thoughtfulness, and proactivity proved to be paramount for both the resolution of problems faced in recent times and ensuring that the department as a whole remained a friendly, civilized department that one would wish to not just remain a part of but to progress within and contribute towards.

Operations services command has been hard at work on amendments to standing policies and procedures, most notably the observation reports policy. The objective behind the coming change is to ensure observation reports are being honest, truthful, and detailed. They are a primary driving factor behind personal progression and general quality assurance for many of us, and to affirm their importance as a core function of how the department operates entirely, this amendment will serve immense benefit for command and progressing officers alike.

Furthermore, on the topic of policies in general, the Tactical Firearms Unit shall also be reforming and rewording certain policies to better reflect both their original intentions and current enforcement practices. Upon the next head of TFU being settled in, More information will be stated by the chosen candidate. On top of this, the Tactical Firearms Unit has concluded the second recruitment drive for incident commanders, resulting in 5 new incident commanders to use their skills and knowledge to take control and lead the force throughout the most serious incidents.

Acknowledging the notably high number of open command positions that opened or were fulfilled this month, you can expect some new and returning faces to take the reins in our command teams. I wish everyone who applied for these positions the best of luck, and I hope that those chosen will fulfill the promises made in their applications!

- Deputy Chief of Department Vinnie Bathory
