Welcome to the December 2024 edition of the Monthly Roundup. This newsletter is designed to keep our employees and the public updated with any changes in the city or department. Attached to the newsletter will be a message from the Office of the Chiefs of Department, awards, key moments and careers. As we go yet again into another year, we look back at 2024 and what has been achieved and performed by colleagues of the department and would like to thank everyone for all the work carried out this past year. We enjoy seeing everyone pull together to achieve greatness and despite a turbulent year within our command teams, with many changes to the higher-ups of the PLPD, we feel all goals have been exceeded beyond what was expected.Our development team has created an exceptional website which surpasses the previous versions and continues to work to create a more streamlined and functional experience, with all amenities and features required.
The Tactical Firearms Team has implemented their new recruitment system, with the introduction of the new Recruit Tactical Firearms Officer Certification and their overhauled Handbook. Both Patrol and the Road Traffic Unit have made changes to their recruitment system and have greatly improved the experience of new officers.
We look forward to what 2025 will bring and are excited to work together to overcome any challenges which we may face. Human Resources will be launching the edited Employee Satisfaction Survey for 2024 quarter 4, which takes some questions from Q3 and adds them to the Q2 format. We recognize the ESS as a great way to gather feedback from all members of the PD.
