December comes to a close, finally wrapping up 2025 for good. In the month of December, thanks to the efforts from Patrol command, we saw the long-awaited reopening of Dispatch applications! Anyone willing to push their coordination and leadership to the test and develop such skills should apply on the careers page today!During the month we saw Dave resign from his position as Head of Road Traffic Unit, and after a riveting recruitment process, we saw former Staff Sergeant Matthew taking his place as Head of RTU. Let us take a moment to thank Dave for his services towards the department over the years and wish Matthew luck with running Traffic.
Furthermore, Lieutenant Hayden James has stepped down from his position as chairman of the complaints committee. We would like to thank Hayden for his service and wish him luck in all future endeavours. Anyone wishing to take his place as chairman of the complaints committee can apply for the role on the careers page now!
2026 will bring about some exciting new developments within the department. Between upcoming map and department updates, we’re looking at an eventful, engaging year ahead of us!

KEY MOMENTS
RTU’S NEW OPERATIONS and InitiativeRTU under LT Wescott’s lead has officially launched their operations (events) which run on a weekly basis. These operations vary from Checkpoints as seen in the first 2 photos, large speed enforcement operations and also a RTU outpost( Last photo) which allows for various tasks and swift responses to Traffic related incidents. If you wish to attend an event head over to plpd.online/events and see when the next one is being hosted.
Following this they also offer support to both those who are RTO’s but also are looking to gain the division role.
They are now running a mentorship program as well. This is the largest change to date as part of the initiative and encompasses educating primarily RTOs and secondarily regular officers on a first-come, first-served basis. This includes
- Weekly to fortnightly training sessions in everything from pursuits to general PD topics like using your supervisor powers.
- Fortnightly newsletter for RTOs highlighting everything that will be happening.
- One-to-One mentorship for RTOs to help them achieve their goals within the department.
- Dedicated support network for RTOs to get answers quickly from people they know have the answers.
Should you have any questions in regards to either the RTU operations or their new Mentorship program please direct a help desk ticket directed towards RTU.
