Message from the Chief
This May has been a month of mixed emotions for everyone across the Department. We have said goodbye to a handful of dedicated and hard-working colleagues who have moved on to new horizons and we thank them for their service. We have also welcomed a number of new faces, such as Sienna Guillory as part of Patrol Command and Shay Shnider and Wesley Coleman to the new Internal Affairs Junior Command.
Where April was incredibly busy and brought a multitude of changes, workstreams in May have experienced delays due to our fantastic teams having to take on real-life commitments such as examinations, University work, moving homes et cetera. This did impact the Office of Chiefs of Department as well, which is why Hayden and I apologise unreservedly for not committing on our promise for a Pan PLPD update in May. Rest assured however that all workstreams are now accelerating with gusto and we will be committing to hosting Pan PLPD by the end of June.
I personally have been undertaking some comparative work from the results of the Satisfaction Survey which has been extremely eye-opening. I will be publishing my analysis and opinion piece on the Satisfaction Survey in the coming weeks, with a clear and structured plan of what action will be taken so as to address your concerns. These will be tangible and measurable commitments and as a bit of a sneak peek of what is to come over the next few months: a Fast-Track Scheme for Officers and Senior Officers; a Chiefs Observer Scheme; a new Rewards & Recognition System; the expansion of some Command Teams; and much more.
You may have noticed yesterday a bit of confusion in the Inbox System and Shoutbox due to a Traffic-related policy change that was reverted at the last minute by Hayden and I. This is because we felt that due to the nature of the change, it requires wider consultation. No-one is to blame for this, with Hayden and I taking full responsibility for the steps taken, and it was simply an operational oversight. You can expect in the next week a consultation where you can have your say on this potentially game-changing amendment, and shape that landscape for years to come.
In conclusion, this month has not been as exciting as previous months, but it is not one where Hayden and I have been disappointed with colleagues; quite the contrary. There will always be peaks and troughs but regardless, as always, our door is open to anyone who wants to connect with us. You can express any comments, concerns, or compliments to either one of us via the Helpdesk, Steam, or through a private message.
