Suggestion Title: Police Broadcast improvements
Suggestion Description: The /pbc command is often overlooked as it's just another clutter of space in the chat area. It would be great to somehow separate it, so it's more usable in the context of Collisions on the road.

One way would be to make it so when using a vehicle, stopping their radios, playing an annoucement beep and potentially reading out the PBC with TTS.

Another way would be to simply alert drivers with a different noise that a PBC has been made and to pay attention.

Why should this be added?:
- Quality of Life
- People stop having an excuse for being asshats and driving full speed into the cones you've set up
- Just a little nifty improvement

What negatives could this have?:
- Abusing /pbc if TTS were to be implemented to spam or make weird noises (should be dealt with by staff anyways)

What problem would this suggestion solve?: /pbc being overlooked

love the idea but please no tts it would get annoying over time in my opinion i would only want the beeps, lovely idea tho 1+

Should do something similar to the Halloween event where all radios get like the noise what it said and then another noise. It would be beneficial because not everyone is constantly look at chat

A better idea of doing this is wherever the PBC is made is where an ANPR sound plays to warn the driver.
This could also be used for the streets before that street as an early warning.
It would say in the bottom right corner the message + beeping to make sure less rtc's occur.

PBC is basically an equivalent to an AMBER alert. In america, anytime an AMBER is sent out phones begin ringing. So it’s like cops having the 211 Alpha sound emit from them when banks robbed except it’s a beep or some sound to indicate attention that can emit from players carrying phones.

Helpers and everyone else tbf^

This would just put more strain on staff, and more or less defeat the point of the PBC being played via TTS, as If it requires staff approval, it might not even be sent out when needed.

Either way, those who have access to PBC( typically RTOs and sergeants+ in patrol) misuse would be extremely rare and of course they could be dealt with rather swiftly and lose the ability to do so if needed.

Understandable reasoning, tts either way would be kind of annoying - and maia just said they wont be doing it so thats good

We're definitely not doing TTS, with that in mind I would like to hear other ideas
Maybe simple beeps, like they said up in the conversation - a beep would get someones attention to check the chat and look around the screen ngl

Add prerecorded sounds then like “Caution, there is a Road traffic Collision at “location”” or something like that”please avoid “Location””

I agree a beep would be enough and imo make the pbc colour a bit neon so its standing more out.

This is something good a color change because as of now you secure an RTC and make a pbc 2 minutes later a ferrari comes 140mph into your cones crying for a supervisor so a color change would be great

What the whole server hears as soon as I get access to TTS PBC…

On a more serious note, a PBC being sent out could just play a phone notification text. Having it as an emergency alert / TTS thing only works in the case of an emergency being broadcast, when the majority of PBCs aren’t emergencies, but announcing road closures and the likes.

it shouldn’t be just a normal indistinguishable notification sound like your phone getting texted though because that’s not noticeable enough or unique. It should be its own unique sound and something more bold to emphasize it.

Like adverts, broadcasts feel out of place in the gamemode. Sure, it's easy to make them more annoying than they are right now, but I'd rather not have another thing trying to get my attention. Maybe it could be restricted to people in a car, but I still think it will be as useful as the current ones. Humans just have banner/ad/repetitive message blindness.

"People stop having an excuse for being asshats and driving full speed into the cones you've set up" -- Driving recklessly or at extreme speeds is not an excuse. If signaled with enough distance, 80-90 MPH can be enough for people to react. If they're paying attention, that is. If they crash, too bad, or at least, too bad their speeding bet didn't pay off. If the cones/barriers are set up correctly, only them will suffer the consequences.

My take: Police shouldn't ignore accidents. Instead, they should be expected to set-up a simple, but distanced enough pre-warning. Walking down the highway and setting up "Slow down" signs is very easy but rarely done. They don't even need to stay around! The normal thing is for non-RTU to ignore accidents and keep driving, which I understand but disagree with. We could focus on why officers don't want/care to deal with these RTC incidents.

The long-term solution should be no text at all, and instead implement variable signs at key points around the road system, that can be changed by dispatch or someone else. This is something I'd like to see in V6. I'm not sure I'd like PBCs to be more prominent in the meantime

Maybe a separate text location, top left / right would be nice, though those areas are frequently used by other systems. Could have PBCs act on like an activity timer, so say for 2 minutes after a PBC is made, when entering a vehicle it would flash the PBC message on say the top left of the screen similar to how a 911 call would appear to a cop, before disappearing.

Essentially, PBC remains as normal, unless driving in which case it would flash on the top as described above upon the message being sent, and entering a vehicle for 2 minutes after the PBC has been made

GP if it’s that annoying just add an option to silence it but make it on by default. People been asking for a way to silence your phone text notifications for a while now but if you really can’t take one more thing pinging then make it exclusively the PBC sound alert.

Even with no sound, as others mentioned before, there are ideas for proximity. Consider NLR, where if you’re close to your death location you are notified to stay away. Something similar could be worked out with PBC and incidents to notify drivers who get near an incident creation location that they should be ware of something.

you mean somthing like this?

Something akin to what we have when there is a bank raid ongoing would be good, like an area specific alert on the top of your screen if you're approaching the area where the PBC was set by an officer. That way it would only be relevant to people that are in the direct area of the PBC or are entering it. I agree having some form of audio cue or tts wouldn't be very fun to have on a daily basis, especially if it's something that won't concern you at all.
