Suggestion Title: Skirts For Men
Suggestion Description: I think the male player model should be able to wear skirts.

Why should this be added?:
- It gives players more freedom to express their style.

What negatives could this have?:
- None

What problem would this suggestion solve?: It's not really a problem, just something cool to add.

pros: make the community live up to the standard of inclusivity it proclaims, making people be able to express themselves better
negs(?): it will make queerphobes out themselves

Are we really willing to limit people's self expression so that queerphobes don't get mad? I don't think that's a good side to take.
And I do believe that exposing someone to gender noncomforming clothing/characters in the context of a community can actually help them perceive it as more normal.

yap mate, everyone's allowed an opinion, doesn't make them homophobic or whatever you're claiming them to be

The community is voting against it.

Perpheads is a video game, not a political movement. If you want to empower your beliefs, you’ve probably got way more impactful means than forcing it down the throat of a gmod community that voted it against it in majority. People aren’t evil just because they don’t believe what you believe.

Was already denied once, just use the female model if you want to wear a skirt. A player model does not define how people gender you, it's how you ask or present yourself.

An opinion on how people express themselves related to gender - like "men/male characters should not wear skirts, because they're men"(not on other basis) is, well, related to gender norms/queer people, and if you are willing to mock someone on that ground then it is most likely queerphobic. And like sure, people can hold their views, I don't think they should be catered to tho.
I was mostly responding to Allen and prolly should've made it more clear with a quote.

1. A gmod community*. I'm rather new here, I was surprised to see that the server is welcoming and pretty open about it so I assumed that the position held here is rather accepting. Most of the arguments used against this suggestion could be used for not including pride flag decals as well.
2. Obviously if the majority doesn't want it then such a decision shouldn't be made, but I'm still allowed to make my point in the discussion no? Appealing to the majority while the discussion is being held is probably not the best, at the moment it's only -5.
3. I do not believe queerphobic people are automatically evil or whathever too, don't know where you got that from. And I'm not calling people who don't want to implement this necessarily queerphobic either, I was talking about the people that would harrass people for wearing skirts with male models, as Allen mentioned.

So your rebuttal was
1)”we have pride decals, might as well get skirts for men.”
2) “I’m allowed to have an opinion. People who don’t want it are only defending queerphobes and picking a bad side.”
3)”queerphobic people are not evil”

Okay.

1) curb your false equivalence, people don’t want it.
2) curb your guilt tripping, people don’t want it

Your argument trying to guilt trip in the earlier text and tell ppl imply they're on the “a bad side.”

3)read point two before contradicting yourself again, people don’t want it.

Conclusively, I think people don’t want it.

(misconstruing what I said)
1. Plenty want it, for now more don't. In the beginning it was majority for, so I assume you were going around saying "people want it, shut up"? What if it switched again? It was -5, now it's -3.
I used pride flags cause they're mentioned by Allen and I don't really see how it's a false equivalence, since pride flags are more in your face about being queer.

2. You made your own claim that it's defending queerphobes. I am saying that it's prioritizing queerphobes not getting mad over letting people express themselves more(as in Allen's argument). I don't agree with it and I don't think it helps building an inclusive community - and this is how the server presents itself(picrel).
You may not want to do that, and that's okay, then my arguments are not for you.

3. I mean yeah I don't think someone is necessarily a bad person for holding bad beliefs. How is that in contradiction with anything I said?

I thoroughly thought over your statements, I did not misconstrue.

I laid out an example for you to witness your contradiction in quotes.

I see no reason to continue engaging with your manipulation tactics and mental gymnastics.

Whichever conclusion this suggestion finds is up to the community and there's no changing that, that's the point made.

add a kilt instead @Ezza
Cultural clothing was denied, It would be interesting to see how this compromise is looked at.

I agree with this statement

I disagree with this statement, People with queerphobia are bad people no reason to deny that, As people with their beliefs (Christianity, Muslim, Catholic, et cetera) know to not disrespect one another therefore they aren't queerphobes but just hold a different few of how the world is meant to be from their religions PoV.

If we want inclusivity we should also add Hijabs for people whom are Muslim, Kippah for people whom are Jewish, Necklaces with a cross for people whom are Christian, and probably a nun outfit for people whom are Catholic.

I think this is a good compromise as it is a skirt of sorts.

Ps. Personally I don't care what people wear IRL or In-game its not of my concern whether they dress up as a furry, cat-boy or whatever for that matter, be yourself however I did downvote this though as of my personal beliefs, but if it did get accepted I wouldn't be bothered by it either as I respect everyone. :)
