Suggestion Title: Tooter V2
Suggestion Description: So basically tooter is dead but me i still use it on a daily basis because i like it for some reason i feel that we should have maybe a photo and even video system and more overall features to tooter because as of now you can basically just post random stuff

Why should this be added?:
- Make tooter more active and very cool

What negatives could this have?:
- Dev time.

What problem would this suggestion solve?: none tbh

If you are suggesting that file sharing be added to tooter, I’m gonna say a hard no.

Theres reasons we should never do this, having the ability to directly upload images and videos to a self hosted image platform requires us moderators to be the sole moderation force behind its use. Gmod players aren’t really the best of people at times, and it’s going to be relatively concerning what shit comes up on that screen.

With YouTube embeds and Image embeds handled via Imgur, we have third party moderation on our side in ensuring an additional level of protection from malicious content. We don’t get that privilege if we just host a public file share, which I am assuming from the suggestion that you are suggesting Tooter becomes.

YouTube is a relatively trustworthy source meaning we don’t have to check the videos before they come in unlike images, but regarding images, there’s already a heavy vetting process each image goes through before being uploaded.

Maybe an embed system from such sites would work, but that probably leads to UI issues galore. Maybe allowing pictures taken with a phone camera could work too, but again, It’s a fair amount of work for something like this.

Regardless of this I disagree with images being shared on tooter. It just sounds like a doomed addition consisting of spaghetti code, embed nightmares, and generally opening a Pandora’s box for misuse for little beneficial reason.

As nice an idea this is, nobody would use it the same as tooter.

Everyone went crazy when it first came out but quickly stopped using it not even a couple days after

If this were to be a thing, I'd recommend a voluntary (non staff) position for dealing with this. Saves the staff time and effort.
