Hi, Perpheads.
Thanks to a couple suggestions in the Help thread, I had all my technical issues and repeated crashing seemingly fixed (and the fix was embarassingly simple), so now I can play the game again propper on my new hardware.
To those that don't know me - Hi everyone, I'm Userone. I have a YouTube channel (not been active for a while admittedly, I hope to change that): https://www.youtube.com/useronegaming
I've been roleplaying for over a decade across Garry's Mod DarkRP, HL2RP, City RP and old Perpheads back in Evocity. I also roleplayed in different games, most notably in GTA San Andreas SAMP's Los Santos Roleplay (LSRP) and Red County Roleplay (RCRP), as well as some GTA V RP servers.
I specialize in technicalities, firearms and expression. You can find my characters auditing the government, shooting guns justifiably or socializing.
In the past week, while I played with technical issues and crashes, I've experienced some of what Perpheads has to offer. Let me summarize my brief review so far:
Staff
Extremely respectful, and for the most part, putting on an image of an unbiased reviewer. I cannot tell how truly unbiased it is, but the fact that staff goes out of their way to even publicly admit that they may be imperfect and are willing to hold each other accountable for misconduct is a huge leap over many other roleplay communities.
Community
While there are extremists and trolls found in every large enough community, Perpheads deals with them swiftly and takes any serious offensive statements seriously. For the most part, the community is playful, honest, blunt but fun and friendly at the same time. Relative to most other Garry's Mod roleplay servers, Perpheads appears to have a relatively very high standard for its community conduct.
Roleplay
The script has been specifically designed to complement realism and roleplay. From the fact that when you take out your gun - it's not raised, like it would be on almost any other Garry's Mod roleplay server, to how you need to actually turn the engine off to not waste your expensive car fuel, it's clear that Perpheads has been redesigned from groud-up to be an immersive experience. And I'm all for it.
People decide to which degree of seriousness they're willing to push their roleplay. Some walk along every path, taking their time. Some set up propper signs at their business and hire other characters to work for them. It's the freedom of expression in each player's action, which makes this gamemode so much more engaging than others: in theory, you can literally do anything.
