This idea is not to remove the halloween zombie event by the way!
Suggestion Title: War of the worlds (Possible halloween event?)
Suggestion Description: Adding an event called "War of the Worlds" Which should be similar in nature to the Zombie event except a large scale "Boss battle" with striders vs players.
War of the Worlds is a movie, book and Play about a martian attack of earth, Perpetuated by "Fighting machines" or "martian tripods" depending on which adaptation you are basing this off of. The fighting machines are large, 3 legged, 100 foot tall machines with a "Heat ray" Laser weapon. They attack citizens indiscriminately. Wanna know what else shares these traits? The combine strider available in Gmod...
In the 2005 adaptation, The Tripods were buried underground thousands of years ago, and emerged from the ground to launch a mass coordinated attack on earth.
Here is the proposed details:
- Combine Striders should take the role of the Tripods.
- Each Strider should have 10000 HP.
- Each strider killed should be announced, with the players name who killed the Tripod. A cash reward should be granted for killing a strider too.
- Maybe strider projectiles could be made to wallbang if possible, and have striders track armed players through walls to prevent people just shooting one from a window?
Alternatively, WotW Tripods exist as Gmod NPCs already, But the Strider would be preferrable.
Maybe the announcement of new Tripod spawns could play this sound effect similar to the zombie event playing a CDC Announcement voiceline:
Strider projectiles should disable cars relatively quickly. Crashing into them should also disable the car to prevent abuse of car hitboxes to get easy kills through mass amounts of damage. Halloween zombies already have this feature.
Every so often, 3 of them should spawn in a random district scattered around, with an announcement saying their location. A maximum of 6 should be on the Paralake map at any given time.
Why should this be added?:
- Probably less resource intensive than the zombie event
- Players cant sustain the event unlike the zombie one by reconnecting upon getting infected.
- Really fun.
What negatives could this have?:
- Same issues as the zombie event.
