Which staff member issued the punishment?: @Viper
How long were you banned/blacklisted for?: Not Applicable
Your Steam Name: TheRealHP
Your Roleplay Name: Ryan Pressman
Your SteamID: STEAM_0:0:152359442
Why were you punished?: "2.5 - User killed an unarmed civilian because they thought they were involved in a situation as a flanker. This was however not the case, and they should have investigated further and gunpointed the civilian first."
Why should this appeal be considered?: This situation was a drawn out shootout that had slowed down at the end due to PD coming and wiping all but two people, it had stemmed from one of the Tidal apartments on the first floor.
I had been moving weapons from Tidals to bridge maintenance as we didn't have a vehicle or apartment to move the guns into at the time. I had heard the people above us (In 202) talk about flanking us, so I had already expected to be countered when moving weapons.
After moving a weapon or two my friend had called out people coming from 202, or flanking near 202. We killed them both and I saw one of them re-entering 202, so three people that I have seen, and I had seen this persons right arm at a weird angle which looks like a player model that is armed/holding a weapon so I knew they were involved in the incident.
Since I saw someone entering 202 after we had killed two people that attempted a counter from the same property I assume anyone coming outside of 202 in general wouldn't have any good faith and would either be trying to take revenge on their friends which they know have just been killed by us or continue trying to flank when we move weapons, so I had been cautious when walking near said door.
After moving one of the guns from near the flanker/counter and telling a firefighter to leave the area I heard my friend callout people coming up stairs I wanted to help so I started making my way over, while being cautious of 202 as I know a person in bad faith (not a random person) had ran back into the property after exiting with two counters/flankers. Unfortunately one person decided to store their weapon and come out, as they believed it was safe to do so, (Around a minute and 37 seconds after the last shot was fired at them) all because their friend was outside and re-entering Tidals while police were coming up. (I believe Viper had said he came out of his property because he was told it was safe to do so)
I decided to not hesitate shooting anyone who came out of 202, especially after hearing guns click (change fire modes) and due to the short amount of time that had passed since two people had come out trying to counter that we had to kill.
Multiple people had come out of 202 in order to counter/scout (some of which were unseen) on two or more occasions
- I would like to add the person I had shot while he was unarmed exited the property armed with others (which I didn't see, but shows this person was aware of the situation at hand as well as being on TS with everyone else).
Had the person that exited the property unarmed whilst on teamspeak and re-entered while we were still there not left 202 the people inside 202 would not have exited the property unarmed believing it is safe. (This user had exited the property during the shootout and had been warned for 3.4, this was the user that was seen entering Tidals and talking with the police officers in the demo.)
I don't believe I should have been punished for 2.5 due to the multiple variables of the situation. While I could've been "investigated further" while determining if the person was a threat I believe this scene was still very active and they shouldn't have come out unarmed in the first place. I had already seen someone come out of the property trying to counter and had no idea the person leaving unarmed thought the area was safe. I assumed anyone coming out of the property especially after such a short amount of time would be hostile and would only be reasonable to assume they had ill intent. I had initiated so early and aggressively as to not give someone exiting the upper hand in a fight, if he had been armed with a pistol and I had hesitated he could've easily lmb'd and hip fired me.
(Wanted to add that in the medal video at 1:02-1:06 I could hear them acknowledge the people in 202 were people that they knew and knew they had been killed.)
