Suggestion Title: Fix traffic signage issues
Suggestion Description: Some traffic devices on the map are ambiguous, improperly placed, missing, or unnecessary. I will update this post with the locations of these issues and the solutions required.
Fixes to existing problems
Speed Limit Conflict: City Junction
This stretch of road on the city on-ramp has a conflicting speed limit due to a missing speed limit sign on the station hill side, see diagram attached:
The solution would be to add a 30 MPH speed limit sign at this point:
Speed Limit Conflict: Highway On-Ramps (Business and City)
As there is no speed limit sign on any of the 4 on-ramps at both the City Junction and Business Junction, there is a point at which the speed limit is 30, 40, and 80 depending on which direction you are approaching from:
The solution is to add speed limit signs at the start of both on-ramps, which are missing.
Blocked View of Sign: Business Highway West
The lane direction sign is too low and too close to the exit to be optimal. It should be moved further around the bend and taller so that it is not obstructed by the fence.
"No Stopping" zones never end
There is no convention to marking when a "No Stopping" zone ends. For example, this sign at Sunset Avenue is not actually ended anywhere, so technically once a driver passes it they may never stop ever again on any public road networked in some way to Sunset Avenue.
This is obviously an issue from an enforcement and common sense standpoint. The solution to this is to implement "End" plates, or another sign type marking the end of restrictions, to demarcate these zones.
Global signage improvements
"No Stopping" signs at all Highway entrances
Add "No Stopping" signs to the on-ramps of the Highway. This makes logical sense but is not actually covered under the laws at the moment.
As with my previous suggestion, these would need to be accompanied with "End" or de-restriction signs on the exits of the Highway.
"No Stopping" signs at tunnels and limited clearance areas
In addition to all highways, "No Stopping" signs should be placed at the following locations for the length of the road, and be de-restricted with an "End" or otherwise plate where the No Stopping area ends.
Speed limit signs at start of on-ramps
The Suburbs on-ramps' speed limit changes from 40 to 80 only at the end of the ramp, which is not safe or practical as drivers are supposed to speed up on the on-ramp to match the highway speed before they merge.
The solution is to move the signs to the entrance of the on-ramps at all highway junctions.
Adjust this traffic light placement
The placement of these traffic lights is odd; the primary light extends infront of the stop line, and the secondary light for traffic from the left is too far right. Both lights could do with being moved back so that the primary light is aligned with the white stop line.
Fire engine warning sign placement
The fire engine warning sign is placed strangely, not facing either direction of traffic and instead facing outward towards the pavement. In common practice, a pair of signs facing in each direction of traffic would instead be placed ahead of the fire station's exit to warn drivers ahead of time.
Why should this be added?:
- Clears up potential loopholes or conflicts regarding traffic laws on the server
- Improves user driving experience and may reduce accidents
- Improves consistency across the map
