Why should this player be punished?: 3.15 – The user, in his chop shop car, went on the wrong side of the highway, crashing at full speed into a pole.

It may not have been a valid reason to cross the highway, I was running and had a gun on me so I wasn't trying to get caught so I chose to cross over with the risk of wrecking. I understand I wrecked putting my life in danger but my intention was to not wreck and escape prosecution for my crimes.

There are valid reasons to use the wrong side of the highway; however, the reasons you stated do not meet the criteria.

In the 3.4 Guide it states:
Another situation to take into account is wrong-way driving. Driving on the wrong side of the highway is a reckless act, likely to cause severe injury to yourself or other's. It can still be justified when certain criteria have been met, such as escaping police when there is significant police presence from several directions, blocked highway lanes during pursuits, etc.

None of these criteria were met. I was the only officer chasing you at the time, and none of the highway lanes were blocked off, so the reason you stated for going on the wrong highway is not valid. The jail sentence was six years for stealing a vehicle.

The luck you had was that there was no oncoming traffic. Had you hit an oncoming car, it would have made the situation worse.

3.15 States:
Players must always drive on the correct side of the highway. Vehicles - stolen or otherwise - must be driven to the best of a player’s ability so as to avoid collisions. There may be valid reasons not to do so, where the benefits outweigh the risks. Ramming a car out of a parking space solely to claim said space is not allowed.

There was no benefit whatsoever in your actions; there were only negative consequences. All of this could have been avoided if you had driven the vehicle to the best of your ability and continued driving on the correct side of the highway. you unnecessarily went on the wrong side of the highway and rammed full speed into a pole, wrecking your chop shop car.

3.4, 3.15

The jail sentence for stealing a vehicle and possessing an offensive weapon in public would total 8 years. The benefit of my actions if performed successfully would have been the money from my chop shop car and avoiding 8 years in jail. While my offense itself wouldn't justify killing an officer, if i can kill an officer to avoid a long prison sentence 7+ years as stated in 3.4 I wouldn't thinking me driving on the wrong side of the highway would be much more risky for my life than trying to kill a cop. I also had seen several police cars on the highway looking for me so my idea was to get off the highway and lose you at the same time. I did drive to the best of my ability to avoid the collision as my intent was to escape prosecution for stealing a car and possessing an offensive weapon. I don't know where the line is drawn in 3.4 guide because it ends in etc. which makes me think avoiding a long prison sentence would apply when wrong way driving.

Laws do not stack, so you would have only received 6 years. While I understand the idea and what you were trying to accomplish, it was unnecessary, you could have just used the on-ramp on the correct side of the highway

I was not aware that they did not stack I just thought it maxed at 10 years. I wasn't intentionally trying to break 3.15 as I've explained what my thought process was but you're right I wont argue, I accept that I made a mistake here. I will not do it again unless its for the reasons you stated above and accept whatever punishment deemed necessary.

Verdict
@uskf drove on the wrong side of the highway while fleeing from police after a vehicle theft, resulting in a crash. This action is a clear violation of rules 3.4 and 3.15. Based on the evidence provided and the statements from both parties, there is no justifiable reason for you to have driven on the wrong side of the highway. The offence you committed would have carried a maximum sentence of six years, which does not meet the threshold under Rules 3.4 and 3.15 for engaging in such a high-risk manoeuvre. Your decision not only endangered your own life but also posed a significant risk of death or serious injury to others. Furthermore, the destruction of a stolen vehicle. Regardless of whether it was a chop shop car, it does not counteract 3.15, where it states " Vehicles - stolen or otherwise - must be driven to the best of a player’s ability so as to avoid collisions".

Rules Broken
3.4
- User drove on the wrong side of the highway, resulting in a crash, seriously endangering their life over a vehicle theft.
3.15 - The user drove a stolen vehicle on the wrong side of the highway without a justifiable reason.
